Subject: 忘記了近代的五四

 甘甘與晨晨，
晨晨說最近回去看《老殘遊記》，就令我想到以往幾年跑去讀近/現代中國思潮史的經驗！很難想像罷，我這個讀番書、做當代研究的去做這些。但是最大收穫、也是驅使我讀下去的，是現在多給遺忘了的一些當時的「文化研究」。讀了一堆當時已經很仔細的文化回顧與反思與及很深刻的東西文化研究！也發現，在洋務運動還沒成氣候的當時，已經有人反思現在叫五四的那種文化政治視野，而五四是幾十到十幾年後的事！很驚訝。還有後來，連魯迅跟一些五四時代當時的人物，也已經看到現在叫「五四」思潮的那種意識形態會走到「法西斯」的邏輯危機裡面，雖然那時還沒有fascism這個概念。不過他們的細密與複雜給大潮流誤讀與略過了。很可惜！那個大潮流，給他們什麼好東西也是會糟蹋了的。所以五四文化邏輯終於造就了一個毛澤東。我做的研究頭兩章就是看「好男人」跟「好漢」的爛攤子是怎麼從近代搞到當代去的。連歷史家陳寅恪，學貫古今、了解中原和邊緣文化、經歷了五四到文革的人，也跳不出五四遺傳的一些盲點。香港、台灣與中國運動與文化界裡面的「好漢」與「新好男人」，就更不在話下了。我要為他們一脈相承的毛病作一清二楚的病歷，也要把那病態當今的不同變種一語道破。這個近代到當代的國家棟梁一塌糊塗的脈絡一定要寫出來。還有很多要想要講。回來再好好談罷。
