Subject: Local grammy fuss

Hey all,

Don't know if you'd be interested but my creative writing professor from last semester, journalist for the Chicago Tribune named Achy Obejas, wrote a fantastic article about the Hawaiian music category. She explains it so much better than I ever could why the Hawaiian community is concerned about the narrowness of the Grammy selection process.

I'm including the link in a reply. If anyone has any insights into why the process is like this, I'd love to hear it.

Thanks,

Malia

[> Malia, I actually started reading this article in Sunday's paper. I'm not knowledgeable about Hawaiian music, but I understand the frustration. Didn't know that George Winston was a slack key fan, although I'm not even sure I know what slack key even is :-( FYI though, I've tried sharing articles from the Trib's Art's section, and that link will expire at the end of the week except for paid subscribers. So, make sure you paste it into Word if you still want it. On the topic of Grammys, Lynn, did you get my email? -- Janelle, 23:44:15 02/15/06 Wed [1]
