I wrote this a long, long time ago. It was my first real fanfic ever. My muse finally graced me with its presence and I am almost done with the sequel. So, I decided to to post this story first. I haven't posted here before....

Disclaimer: I don't own them. If I did Season 9 would be a dream
sequence ala Dallas. We'd wake up and find Harm and Mac as close as
they were prior to the Singer debacle.

AN: If you can't tell, I hated most of that season with the exception
of "What If", the Tub scene during ATWII and maybe a few others. I
also feel as though Mac's character was alienated quite often. This
is my take on what would happen when Mac finally got tired of being
persona non grata.

THIS IS TOTALLY AU. I KNOW THE FIRST PART IS UNREALISTIC…

***A Saturday Morning at JAG HQ early 2004. Everyone is dressed
in "civilian clean up attire".***

1100 E.D.T. Ladies Restroom Third Floor...

She was leaning against the wall of the handicapped stall trying to figure out what the hell had just happened. Drawing her knees to herchest she rested her chin on them. Sighing, she thought, "What am I going to do now?"

40 minutes earlier in the big conference room...

It had all begun so innocently. Everyone was meeting up at JAG to consolidate 2003 files and archive any files that were over three years old.

She had her head bent over a stack of files, alphabetizing,
categorizing, etc. and didn't realize anyone was talking to her. It wasn't as though anyone had spoken to her, unless it was out of respect for her position, or work related, in a long time. She had learned to tune out anything sounding remotely personal knowing it
wouldn't be directed towards her anyway. Her concentration was broken by five voices...

"Colonel?" this from Sturgis, Coates,Bud and Harriet, "Earth to Mac," from Harm, of course.

"Oh, I'm sorry, what was that?" she asked.

"I was just saying that we haven't gotten together in a long time. I have some homemade spaghetti sauce that's been simmering for hours. I thought we could all get together at our place after this. Everyone else has agreed and I was asking if you'd join us," said Harriet.

"Um, I don't think so," began Mac.

"Why not? I know Webb's out of town. What possible excuse could you have for not spending time with your friends Mac?" Harm questioned.

"We're more than friends. We're practically family," Bud interjected, the others nodding in agreement. Mac snorted derisively and shook her head again, “I don't think that's a good idea".

"Ma'am, you haven't been by to see the boys in months. I know AJ misses his Godmother", said Harriet.
"What could the kids have done to deserve being ignored Mac?" this coming from Harm, a note of challenge in his voice.

Sturgis shook his head and mumbled something under his breath that sounded suspiciously like "sanctimonious prig". With that, Mac snapped. She had had enough...

"You, Commander, have brass balls". Sturgis' head whipped around, while the others stared dumbfounded as Mac continued, "If I am a sanctimonious prig, then you sir, are a pompous, arrogant, self-righteous jerk!"

She turned facing all of them, "You've all been treating me as though I were a leper for the better part of a year and yet can't understand why I find the prospect of spending time outside of work with you unappealing?
Contrary to what Commander Rabb may have informed you,
the fiasco in Paraguay and events immediately following, were not entirely my fault".

"Mac, I never said it was", began Harm, as the others stared at him with looks of shock and incredulity.

"Shut up Harm," Mac said, noting the looks exchanged by the
others, "I'm not finished yet. You may not have said it was all my fault, but you probably intimated as much. It's more likely what you didn't say, admitting any culpability whatsoever, that's had everyone around here treating me as though I am 'persona non grata'".

With that, Harm sighed and sat down. Mac obviously had a lot to say. This could take a while. He motioned for the others, still standing, to take a seat. He looked up at Mac, "You have the floor counselor, please, continue".
