Heaves, if you do all of the conversions at once, the old mp3 songs will be highlighted in your Library playlist with the new AAC files right below it's mp3 copy. All you have to do is then press delete, and it will delete all of the highlighted, i.e. mp3, files that you had selected before you clicked on the "convert to AAC" option. When I get new music, this is how I do it (although to a much, much smaller degree, i.e. 15 songs or less).
