Joe I will take your plea under advisement, let it mull and fester for the day and see where that takes me. I do feel much better than I did on Tuesday. I slept til 9 today which helped a bit.

Hafer, hmmmm, nice scenario you got there. They are not paying you for 2 reasons: (1) they are cheap (2) they know you don't have patent experience and view in consideration of "training" you, they will keep the loot you earn them. I know a few people in law school working long distance and all ended up with offers. You will probably get 1 project a week and you can work at your own pace as long as you don't miss any deadlines. The down side as you concluded to is that it sucks working during the evenings. Could you possibly fit an hour or two or three in during your clerkship? Would that be "unethical"? In the end it could get you the "experience" people are looking for on your resume. Would that other place be serious about offering you a job? If so then it may not be worth working for free.

Jono, D2's reaction was completely expected. She's a "slow mover" who did not move very slowly, thus she must be in love. I imagine you talk every day and you see her more than once a week. This would give any girl the impression the she is your girlfriend no matter what you do or say to them. Unless that is you are Hafer and actually tell the girl every other week that she is in fact not your girlfriend. Anyways, leaving will suck for both of you but I don't see the long distance thing working out. You will be in a new area and will want to explore many crevices.
