He pulled to the side of the road and turned the bike off before removing his helmet. It had been a long morning. He looked out over the desert landscape and sighed. He'd been so angry when he sped out of the venue parking lot on his bike, but the ride had calmed him down, and without his anger distracting him, he'd had time to think about the morning's events. She'd only been trying to help him, she certainly didn't mean to drop the guitar, and it wasn't as if it was one of his favorites. Heck, he didn't even play it that often, and it had been he who had asked her to retrieve it for him, on a whim that the evening's audience might like seeing him play a little on a different guitar for once.

He sighed again and ran a hand through his hair. This was ridiculous. It was, afterall, only a guitar - an inanimate, replacable object that wasn't worth nearly as much to him as she was. It certainly wasn't worth his frustration and irritation. He reached into his pocket and pulled out his cellphone, he hoped she'd answer... and she did... after three rings.

"Hello." She sounded sad.

"Hey baby," he said quietly, trying to sound as sorry as he felt.

"Where are you?"

"On the side of the road somewhere. I can see a cactus," he responded, hoping to lighten the mood, but she didn't say anything. "Baby, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean it, I don't know what I was thinking. You didn't deserve that. I'm sorry... I love you."

"I should have been more careful..."

"No baby, really. It wasn't your fault the cord wasn't taped down, I probably would have tripped over it too... and it's only a guitar."

"There's something I never thought I'd hear you say."

He chuckled and heard her laugh softly in the background. "So does that mean I'm forgiven?" He asked, hopefully.

"You were always forgiven." He knew she meant it. God, he loved her.

"I'm going to head back that way. Do you need anything as long as I'm out?"

"No, but thanks. Hurry back and be careful."

"Always. I love you, sweetheart."

"I love you too, Keith."

They hung up and he put his helmet back on and started the bike. After a quick stop to buy some flowers, he was back at the arena, managing to get his bike put up right before it began to rain. This might be a good Sunday afterall.
