[> Pat Green (kind of Keith related) -- kennedypratt, 18:22:48 02/15/06 Wed [1]

I had never seen Pat before but the couple that came with us had seen him several times in Auburn. His performance was good and he was really funny. He made a lot of references to Valentine’s Day, and joked about how many of us went to the Olive Garden for dinner. He made a dedication to his wife that was sweet. He told us how Christmas Eve he was at home eating a cheeseburger when Keith Urban called and asked him to go on tour. His wife said to him, “put the cheeseburger down, you are going on tour with one of the most beautiful men ever.” He was fussing at people in the front row who were sitting down. He said, “Ya’ll pay for front row tickets to sit down? I bet when Keith’s ass comes out here you’ll be standing up!” He also talked about how since it was Valentines Day the women shouldn’t upset their dates too much swooning after Keith. He said to the men in the audience, “ya’ll are purely ornaments tonight, you realize that?”

[> Keith (the important part) -- kennedypratt, 18:25:36 02/15/06 Wed [1]

Keith told us how great it was to be in Alabama finally. His entire performance was stellar, great vocals and guitar as usual. He got a little croaky voice on one part of “Jean On” but that was the only time I noticed, he was coughing a little in between songs too. He looked a little tired but was full of energy. The YLGIMS girl was in the front row and had a sign that said she had traveled over 3,000 miles to see him. She was from Seattle and she gave him a note. He took it and said, “Is this your phone number?” He brought her up on stage and while she was walking up he said, “I want to know what this note says. “ When she went to the back with the stage manager he said, “While your back there I’m going to read this to the crowd.” He unfolded it and said, “I love it when you….” Then he smiled at the crowd and said, “You can imagine the rest” and folded the note back up. He put his arm around her and gave her a kiss on the cheek during the song. He was smiling and looking at her while he was singing, very cute. He changed the lyric of ‘walking around the house in my tee shirt’ to “walking around the bus in my tee”.

Overall he wasn’t that chatty (as compared to Greenville); he didn’t read any more signs during the night. He pointed out the people in the restricted view sections on the side and said, “What did you pay for those seats, about three buck fifty?” He only made one mention of Valentine’s Day and had a red heart on his white guitar. He dedicated MMOY to the lovers that were there and to the single people as well. The he joked, “Most of them are men though.”
We were in the side risers, about a foot off the floor from the back row. I could see right into the sound booth and we had a great view of the rear stage. Speaking of rears, for one of the songs he had his back to us and was rocking a little, forward and back while playing his guitar. Let me tell you, it wasn’t a bad view for two minutes. Seriously, I couldn’t take my eyes off his behind. He did turn around eventually and I made eye contact twice. During “Jeans On” he changed the lyric that he usually thanks Kenny for the Harley to “we’ll go motorbike riding all the way from Nashville to Huntsville, Alabama.” He didn’t sing Sweet Home Alabama as hoped; he did tease us with the guitar riff a few times though. He also didn’t sing ‘God’s Been Good to Me’ or ‘Brand New Man’. The band was great too. One more cute thing, during the crowd involvement part of one of the last songs where Chris and Jerry stand on the risers to see which side can scream louder, Keith pointed to the center section and said, “you guys are mine” in that irresistible growl. My husband had never seen Keith and was really impressed with the performance, so was the couple that went with us. I’m really looking forward to seeing him in Tallahassee next week.

[> [> Wow, sounds like a FUN night!!! I love to hear all the little things he says, and jokes he makes. The music is always awesome, but it's the little comments that make each show special..... (more inside) -- Feathers, 11:39:00 02/16/06 Thu [1]

I love that he changed the line to "walking around my bus" - that's funny, and, from what we've discussed here in the past, a common fantasy that he's obviously aware of!

I'm also THOROUGHLY glad that he dropped the Kenny Chesney reference (no offense to Chesneygirl), but Keith doesn't need to ride Kenny's coattails anymore, especially since he sprung for his OWN fancy chopper for his own birthday last fall.

I love how he works the crowd by saying stuff like "you guys are mine"!! ACK!! I probably would've fainted dead away if he was looking at me when he said that! LOL

Thanks for the review, KP, and we look forward to the next one!!

So glad you made it over bibby!!! Was the walk across the tracks scary? Did anyone try to steal you or offer unknown substances? We are glad you made it safely, sit down, have a drink, we have snacks somewhere.
