Hya Alan,

A few days ahead of the 1st anniversary of Bloody Friday comes the latest Arbitrend for NYC.

The results should show a dreadful rest-of-day for 92.3 following the spike from the most recent Infinity saviors -- Saint Opie & Saint Anthony ....

Another year gone by for 102.7 while they as well scrounge from middle-aged Disco nostalgia .....

and, last and probably least, everybody's favorite @$$#0Ies, 101.1 .....

Country, Standards and Oldies are missing. Instead, three big frequencies in the biggest market -- and its attendant suburbs -- are wasting good Arbitron diaries and blowing specious press release target-niche stats out their disinfected chutes.
I and others can't accept 'alternatives', as thought-out as they may be, Alan. Not when three huge alternatives are already available.

92.3, 101.1, and 102.7.

THREE (III) major frequencies. They're going to waste. In New York City. Book after Book. Format after format.

This company-wide negligence, stubbornness, denial, shortsightedness and stupidity should be as much of an issue -- nee, MORE of an issue -- than secondary choices and alternatives. The latter is like those eMails you always want to forward but never quite get around to 100% faithfulness.

The Oldies void in NYC (and elsewhere) is a many-pronged and thorny issue. There is too much indecisive overlap among even the core fans to focus. But as one weapon, for the Day That Will Live In Infinity, the fresh-off-the-shelf NUMBERS will be available soon. Those numbers, if they're dreadful, should be publicized, mocked, scored, hanged by their miniscule gonads until capitulation, and offered in as widespread a manner as possible. There needs to be a shakeup if such is the case. All the way to flag rank.

(Btw Alan -- What's your age demo? You don't sound like a snarky old man, his Beach Boys songs burned by censors, or in denial of impending early retirement to the extent of climbing rooves and towers and crawling on his belly in basements to blow up his house rewiring the breaker box -- like me :-)
