Subject: Displaced New Yorker finding out about 101.1's demise.

Hey folks, sorry to hear about all the oldies stations dropping in your necks of the woods. We still have a decent station here, 104.3 WWOD, out of Hartford, VT.

I moved away from New York a week before the switch. WCBS was not my all time favorite station, but definitely had a spot on my presets.

A few weeks back, I went back to visit NY. As I was getting into town, I tuned into to some of the old stations I used to listen to. I got to 101.1, and while I forget the exact song they were playing, it was definitely something that fit in with the old format. (Which I never new had changed.) Then that snarky Jack guy came on, and they went into some current pop.

I kinda did a double take. It was kinda like when WNEW went talk. WCBS was not a station I expected to go. I looked on the internet to see what happened and ultimately found this site.

I listened to the goodbye montage and the Jack intro, and it just like someone flipped a switch.

For those who were listening that day, was there any indication anything was up? Also, what happened between Bill Brown musing about being rescued and the end of Summer Wind, when they went into the Jack stunting? I'm curious as to how the whole thing went down.

One side note, I never heard of Jack before that. I tried it just to check it out, and I think it sucks. It's disjointed, bland, and that recording voice in insulting. And I'm 26, their prime demographic. Go figure.
