If I remember correctly, In the fit of anger and grief at the death of his Uncle. Talon who was a bit of a hot-head, did not listen to Nynia's warning and headed out into battle and killed Camulus' son in an act of revenge. It was after the battle that he learned that the he had been tricked by his Uncle's son who wanted Talon and Nynia dead so that he could rule. It was Camulus' son whom Talon killed in that battle and in his rage cursed Talon ..stipulating he would lose (to death) all that he loved. See inside for conclusion>>>>> -- RBL Dark Hunter Board

As a result Nynia died along with their child in childbirth. His sister Ceara, was also killed before him. At this point Talon cried out to the Morrigan (whom his family served) but she was unable to help him because Talon had been cursed by a god, Camulus. Plus, he had given his soul to Artemis. Nothing short of declaring war against Artemis and Camulus would free Talon. This was unheard of in the Pantheon, so The Morrigan schemed and she waited for a chance to free Talon from the curse.

After a while Camulus agreed to let Nynia's (Talon's wife) spirit be reborn but he did not specify to what type of (grand) parents. The Morrigan's own child, Starla gave birth to Nynia's spirit aka Sunshine. Because Starla loved a mortal man she renounced her immortality in order to grow old and die with Sunshine's father. Which is why at the beginning of the book, Talon is shocked to find out Starla is Sunshines' mother because Starla looked so young!

Thus, the lineage of Sunshine and how the Morrigan became her grandmother.

*Deep Breath* So, when Nynia (Sunshine)was reborn THIS time she had the protection of the Morrigan from Camulus as The Morrigan's blood flowed in her veins. On the night that Talon could no longer resist biting and drinking Sunshine's blood during their passion, Talon THEN fell under the protection of The Morrigan because he now shared her blood as well. But Talon still had to die and Susnshine had to return his soul to his body as only his true love Nynia could.

Once this was accomplished Camulus was prevented from killing Sunshine and continuing his curse against Talon because the blood of the Morrigan flowed in both their veins and to do so would cause war with the Morrigan.
Camulus being the lesser god, (remember gods got their strength or might from those who served them); Which is why Camulus went in with Dionysis, Styxx and Bacchus (the god drunken frat boys, love that!) and would surely lose against her!

With the curse lifted Ceara's, Talon's sister, spirit was free to be reborn and she too was given a second chance at a happier life.

I hope that explained it. Although, Mary Stella was alot more concise and accurate too. Which is why she is an award winning author and I'm Not! *LOL* Muah!

I knew that the Morrigan was Sunshine's g-ma, but....well, I just had it screwed up is all. I'm trying to hunt down the book, but it is hiding from me. Grrr. I think my piranha rats have eaten it. (These piranha rats are not so unrealistic figments of my imagination. Their existence explains mysteries like why two socks are put in the wash and only one comes out.)
