Subject: The thing is time travel of only 20 years would be much trickier than into ancient history. I liked the way she worked around the issues of getting Aristotle to survive while not changing Wren's life. For Mama Lo, obviously she was pretty awful, which shocked me at first, but then I thought - what a good way to emphasize these are not humans. They're animals with very different drivers, emotions and behaviors and are not actually designed to play nice together. It really is setting the scene for Aimee and Fang.
In reply to: Boadicea 's message, "I think it's b/c Were-hunter books seem less complex than DH books, even when SK's not tormenting us w/Ash tidbits. For me,UTN was exciting&intense, had a lot of action-but it's more a feeling of being "on the run" through the book, than getting in a down&dirty knife fight in an alley with some Daimons. Some of my fave scenes in DH books are the opening fights.I think I like them so much b/c they help me "see" the characters so much better.I liked UTN better than Night Play in many ways, but the time-travel was better,IMHO,in NP.Vane having to go to Dark-Age Britain was more interesting to me than Wren & Maggie going back 20 years or so.One thing I thought added good tension to the story was Mama Bear.More>>>" on 23:09:01 01/12/06 Thu

[> [> [> For the comparison with the DH books, I guess I don't read them in quite the same frame of mind as the werehunters, but I do like to see the way the worlds interact. Kind of interesting here to see Julian in a different context, and the introduction of Jean-Luc. And what about Vane NOT giving Bride any of his powers? My mundane thought is that Sheri hadn't thought of that possibility until she wanted to make Maggie transform into a tiger, but who knows? Maybe it's a future issue. -- Beth, 23:48:27 01/13/06 Fri [1]
