Subject: It seems that a lot of people did not connect with Wren and his story as greatly as they did with the others. I loved Wren, but there are some major differences between him and the others. One, he is much younger than any of the other heros thus far. He has not amassed hundreds (or thousands) of years of pain and betrayal like many of the others. He didn't have a definite "grab you" personality. The others all have certain quirks, like Talon was a sex fiend, Zarek was a smart a**, etc. Wren was just a loner w/o a lot of interaction with the others (before Maggie). It is hard to connect w/ someone when they don't express themselves or let you in.
In reply to: Mary Stella 's message, "I think for me, with UTN, I didn't connect with Wren as closely as I have with other Hunters. I don't know why that is and it isn't a criticism of Sherri's writing by any means. I wonder if it's because, in previous books, the Hunters all had a bigger presence in someone else's book. (With the exception of Alexion.) We got to know Talon in Kyrian's book. Zarek, Vane, Valerius, even Wulf via the phone call w/Talon, got some of the spotlight in Talon's book. This whole reasoning on my part doesn't make crystal clear sense, I realize. I mean, I read books all the time with characters I've never 'met before'. LOL" on 17:42:41 01/13/06 Fri
