Hi all,

Thanks to you all for all the kind sentiments concerning my crash and its consequences.

To confirm:

I have broken my leg – I’ve snapped the end off my tibia where it meets the ankle, I stayed two nights in Bangor hospital while they screwed it all back together. I’ll be out of action for the next six weeks, but rest assured, I will be back on the road with my new ‘bionic ankle’ as soon as possible.

However – the real purpose of this post is to apologise to all those at Traws for me making such a stupid mistake. I’ve been racing for four years now, and should know better than to crash the way I did. It just goes to show, if you take your eyes off the road for even a second – you have to pay the consequences.

Streetluge receives a lot of bad press for it’s accidents and injuries – however, I want it to be known that this most recent injury was a result of my own poor judgement, and is not representative of the sport as a whole.

Streetluge is getting safer all the time – but you still have to stay awake!

Thanks to everybody who was at Traws for digging me out and getting me to hospital, thanks to Chris and John for taking care of my luge – and a huge thanks to Miriam for everything she does for me.

I won’t be at this email address until I’m back at work, so please send any further correspondence to: mrtom1@hotmail.com. In the meantime, I can be reached on the usual numbers:

Mobile : 07770 652546
Home : 01865 725376

Oh and one last thing – GET YOURSELF INSURED! In a freak moment of sensibility three months ago, I took out a streetluge insurance policy with ‘sportscoverdirect’. It costs about £60 for the annual ‘Super Gold’ world-wide cover, and when something like this happens – it is worth every penny.

See you all soon,

Ride hard – stay safe.

Tom Worsley

P.S. Yes it is true – I really was in the same hospital bed as Chalky……………it still stinks!
