Hi (Mad) Mac,
I can see where you are coming from regarding brakes, but the over-riding need at the moment is to increase interest, and encourage entrants to build gravity bikes. So, the "stock" class needs to be simple, and easy to make, and cheap also.
If you want to increase your use of high technology, by using suspension, disc brakes, special frames, fairings, etc, then go to the next, top, class, which incidentally, I would prefer to be called the OPEN Class!! And, I don't like either the restriction from the IGSA of only 3/4 fairings...a full streamliner would look fantastic.
Incidentally, if you (Mac) or anyone else out there wants a 50" frame making, then in the interests in promoting this class, I am quite prepared to do this, almost for free (you pay for the welding gases). But you will need to supply, one complete bmx frame, with your choice of forks already fitted, and another bmx frame without forks. Also, you will need to paint the finished article.
Sorry, but I can't offer this service for rear suspension frames, as it gets much more complicated!
Finally, it isn't that difficult to make fairings....buying a sheet of 8 x 4 foot fibreglass locally costs about £35, and this can be easily stitched and glued to make an effective fairing. If there is an interest in copying mine, a local fibreglass manufacturer has said he needs about ten to be made, for it to be economical for him, at about £75 each...Yes, I know its a lot of money,but with all the extras I must have spent about £50 on making mine, so its not too bad!
