She let out a soft, shaky breath through the tears as she looked up at him with dark, fathomless eyes. "I was just..overwhelmed..." She had done what she had said that she would never do - gave her heart and soul to a man and let it be crushed and she had been so angry with herself for that. Her eyes moved over his, her face tipping into his hand on her cheek as she let out a soft, troubled sigh. Confusion was overwhelming her, she didn't want to get so dependent on him again, she didn't want to need him but she also hated to see the hurt and upset in his eyes and wanted so deperately to make things better for him. She knew without a doubt she still loved this man but she was starting to think just something casual would work the best for everyone. None of this serious, be with you forever, lets get married kinda stuff, she just wasn't built for that. She had missed him though, missed him every waking moment and even in her dreams she had ached for his arms to be around her and now that he was there, touching her, she didn't think she could pull herself away.

By the hearth, he knelt to stoke the coals beneath the remaining log before adding a couple more in and poking around until the fire had raised up. After holding his hands over it for a moment, he flipped the grate to let the air in to keep it burning hot and then turned to walk over to her. Seeing her sitting there, her brow furrowed and confusion written all over her, he felt a deep tenderness rise up inside him, making him want to take care of her - to prove that he could be the man she wanted him to be and that she couldn't go through life without loving and trusting him.) Yeah.. I told Addie I wasn't very hungry before.. (He eyed the plate of food and settled back down on the bed, his back against the headboard.)
