(He said and then brought his gaze back to the road again.) Yeah.. and we should head in a different direction when we ditch the car, I don't want them following us to where we rented.. could leave it at a bus station or something, take the bus somewhere closer. (He shrugged, then cursed softly as he sighed.) I can't believe this.. it makes no sense to me. (He didn't like the air of danger like he usually did, the adreneline was no help to soothe him when it was Haylie and Shay that he was worrying about.. and he had no way of warning Remy.)

  • (He sighed, rolling his eyes a bit and laughing humorlessly.) Yeah, I know what you mean. I used to be able to do this sort of thing without an issue.. but now I have you and Shay besides. (He tipped his head a bit as he watched the road signs slip by.) And I am not so sure this is politically motivated anymore.. it just doesn't fit that someone inside the agency would focus so much time and energy coming after me when they could have simply killed Shay by putting something in her drink at the restaurant that night. I think there is a lot more to this than meets the eye. (He tensed as his muscles complained, but ignored it to keep his mind focused.)
