Note the University of Tenn Press has a couple of books of interest this fall:


The 28th was of course in the same division as our 15th Texas boys, so hopefully some good insight there...just ordered it, so will report back...

The other one which may be useful is the new published diary of the chaplain in Terry's Texas Rangers. Actually, since the 15th is primarily an East Texas piney woods and also a Waco-area unit and the Rangers were mostly from the Gulf Coast area, we're dealing with two very different groups of people, socio-culturally. Still, hopefully the good rev has some interesting things going on back at home which can be useful to our knowledge of Civil War Texas...will likely elaborate on this back on the ole' FGLHA board when I get the book...
