Multiple girls? I looked at the contestants and only see Chramer in the Miss Alabama USA that ever competed at Miss Alabama. Are there others I missed? And Chramer aged out before she switched. Hope she wins. There seems to be a few in Teen that did Alabama OT.

There are many girls competing who have done Miss Alabama prelims in the past. Caroline pettey did OT, Hanna Bowlin and Lindsey Gallups pretty sure did a few Miss Prelims, and Olivia Kurosaka and Emma Hopkins have done OT

But someone posted that multiple girls switched to USA this year. Other than Chramer I do not see any that switched from Alabama to USA besides her and she aged out. And I hope she wins USA. Caroline Pettey did OT oen time and was top 5. Since then she did another system. Maybe US Teen or something like that. And then USA. Wasn't she top five at at Alabama USA last year? She will be Chramer's competition.

I think Caroline Pettey was 4th RU last year. USA is usually won on stage. Interviews are the next day. If a judge is trying to decide after the stage competition who their top girls are, this is where Elisabeth can excel. From what I have heard from people who have judged her she has excellent interview skills.

There are a lot of girls across the country that go back and forth between the systems. The only recent people I can think of that have done both here in Alabama is Cassidy Jacks and Caroline Petty.

Elisabeth enjoys competing and loves meeting new people. Not surprised she is competing in AL USA. There are many girls that could do well in either system. Good luck to Elisabeth!

There are some beautiful girls competing in AL USA this year, as there are every year. It is never a shoe in for anybody. I think it is great Elisabeth is able to move on and compete in another system. She will most likely do well.

And Chramer has. She has a USA appropriate gown although I have not seen it and USA appropriate interview attire. She has been working with USA coaches/helpers/people. That does not mean she will win, place or get anything but she is no dummy. She knows the difference and will be competing accordingly.

Elisabeth will get to work with her hourglass figure instead of trying to to downplay it as she has in the past. USA is probably a good change for her.

But judges cannot tell about fakeness is thie type of pageant. Brief interviews and aren't they one on one. I have judged these type before and you miss the interaction with the group panel which can tell you a lot about a young lady. I can tell as much from watching her answer other judge's questions as I can from answering mine. Who all besides Caoline Pettey were runenrs up last year?

Caroline is the fake one and she's mean. She's beautiful and I'm sure she will win eventually but I hope not. I agree though, the interviews aren't long enough to really know any contestant.

Usually USA has leaned towards stick thin girls but there were a few curvy girls in Miss USA this past year. So far this season there have been several girls crowned that have a figure. I think finally people have realized a healthy toned body is what is pretty. I think it is a positive change.

Hi everyone, Elisabeth here.

I was told there was a thread here about me competing in Miss AL USA and, to be honest, I braced for the worst. (Real talk: this board isn't known for being the most supportive.)

How pleasantly surprised I am to see all of the encouragement, support and love on here! My posting now is to celebrate how this board can and should be used: to share information and bolster the aspirations of young women in our great state. YOU GO, Y'ALL, and keep it up!

I have always strived to make clear that I'm not a secretive person. Speculation never leads to a good place... If you'd like to chat about my experiences and perspectives, just send me a message and we'll catch up!

As I go into competition weekend tomorrow, please know that I'm going with the mindset to simply enjoy the experience and have a fabulous time. My goal of working for Alabama's homeless and impoverished isn't over and I see this as another opportunity to promote Habitat statewide and nationally, with an added goal of opening new doors in media and with my business. I will always go giving my all, and will always be content with where my path leads.

PS - DOE girls, can we have a campfire night soon?? S'mores and can cake on me!

What's tacky about addressing posts about and identifying yourself. This board should require some form of identity to people who post and that would eliminate a lot of the "tacky" slanderous comments made by miserable malcontents who have nothing better to do. I applaud you Elisabeth Chramer - you're a class act and wish you well in whatever you pursue.

There is a lot of time, effort, money required to compete for some girls and their families to compete in the preliminaries. CMN "donation", tickets, travel expenses, hotel, meals, etc. All this on top of wardrobe, talent related expenses - classes, tracks, etc. There is your platform work and scrapbook. Then you have the DoE, Gala and whatever else the Board comes up with. If you do get to compete at Miss Alabama, the additional CMN, tickets for your family, hotel and meal expenses for many families take a big amount of money.
All this on top of being a student and regular life responsibilities.
Most families spend more than the girls ever win in scholarships.

I guess you could say there is more substance to Miss Alabama, but there are more and more people that simply can't afford it or don't want to commit the amount of time and effort required. The number of contestants are down. Maybe that needs to be addressed.

Miss AL USA is not cheap to do. Entry fee is $1100 and winner gets no scholalarship whatsoever. The entry fee in addition to wardrobe, coaching, travel, hotel, food, etc. makes it more expensive to do than MAO, with no chance to recoop any of the money spent.

1,000 for entry! Holy cow you have to be privileged just to compete.

Not if you get sponsors.
At least Alabama USA is upfront with how much it costs and has one fee that covers everything. The girls that compete in preliminaries all year easily spend that much in travel expenses and tickets for the family that attends, plus DoE and other extras. Even if you cap the CMN at 4 preliminaries, you still have to come up with 250.00 for state competition. That is 750.00 just for CMN.
So I guess you have to be privileged to compete in both systems.

Some girls who competed were sponsored by a preliminary system--not all just pay and go. Also several have platforms as well. It is up to the individual what they do why is there so much division? Seriously you don't have to hate one in order to like the other.
