After reading most of the postings on this site, and the unmoderated one, this is without a doubt one of the most disturbing postings I have ever seen.

First of all, I think the person who identified themself as, "Kathleen" has to be one of the most insensitive, ignorant people on the face of the planet. Here we have an obviously desperate person here crying out for help, and Kathleen has nothing better to do than trash the person for a couple of spelling mistakes. No wonder you've got to hide behind a pseudonym, Kathleen, you coward!

I think this situation should be viewed very seriously by the School Committee and Suprintendent. When the situation at Columbine High School took place several years ago, there's was all kind of discussion of, "what happened here", or "what could Columbine High School, or any other school system, have done to prevent such an incident from ever taking place".

When you've got kids in the school system, who may not fit in with any social clique or may be viewed as misfits, there's a major problem here when the more popular kids use the outcasts as some kind of human toilet paper or human punching bags.

These less popular students deserve an education just like anybody else, there has to be something the administration or the teachers can do to offset any kind of bully problem within our school system. I understand that teachers, especially the ones in the public school system, feel they have to serve as discplinarians more so than educators.

But to push one of these less popular students into such a rage that they may be contemplating either suicide, or obtaining a gun and blowing away some of their classmates, is simply unconscionable. Then, after something like that takes place, the school administration tries to put a politically correct spin on the situation, by having counsellors available to help any student deal with the aftermath. Why bother? Why not deal with a potential problem now, before it has a chance to snowball out of control?

I apologize for not offering any solutions to this particular problem, but I'm sure somebody in the educational or psychiatric fields must have had some recommendations after the incident at Columbine, and other schools with similar situations, on bullies attacking their less vulnerable classmates.

Most of all, I hope that some of my comments have helped comfort you, Shell. It sounds as if you're going through a living Hell trying to deal with, What's gonna happen next to my kid in school? Hopefully, some of the powers that be running our school system will implement a more condusive plan, in which your kid's only concern will be getting a better education.
