Once again, I believe that Naturally has hit the nail on the head. I totally agree with his take on the children's memorial. while I believe that such a memorial is a beautiful thought and may certainly bring comfort to those of us who have lost a child, I also believe that to put it on the High School grounds may send the wrong message to students who may have serious depression or thoughts of suicide. I also believe in Naturally's thought that children who are fighting life-threatening illnesses do not need this type of a reminder on a daily basis.

Another thought is that there are parents in this town who have lost children that did not attend our high school. They may have attended other schools or may have passed away prior to attending any school. All of these children should be remembered and honored as should the parents and families who have suffered their loss. Let's put this memorial in a central place (although I realize that the high school area is fairly central for the town)where all people can come and honor their lost children regardless of the age they were when they died. Possibly town hall, Veteran's memorial park, in front of the Historical Society, or on one of the empty corner lots available throughout the town. Let's put our heads together, I'm sure that we can come up with the best place for all without sending the wrong message.
