Subject: Power Plants--More or less

I look at the threat of power shortages around the country and I try to keep up with the facts as much as a layman can and it seems to me that a power plant in Dracut is a good thing.
I read that they closed down several coal-fired power plants in Ohio and the experts say that gas-fired power plants are the way to go. Cleaner, less dangerous, less polutants, etc...
Would I like living next to one? Can't say I would, unless I got a good deal on the home. (My uncle owned a home in Seabrook with a beautiful view of the Nuke Plant from his backdoor. Never heard him complain once. His front door faced the ocean.)
Do I think power plants are necessary? Well, a couple of months ago when a good section of Dracut lost power for about an hour and a half, we all sat in our candlelit kitchens, doing homework with our kids and cursing the power company. If we can't do it for a couple of hours, how do you think we will put up with rolling blackouts on a routine basis?
