Good but tough questions Warren.
1. We definitely need some sort of income to increase our revenue base but determining what type of business will be a real challenge. Concerns such as noise, traffic, impact on health and quality of life, will and should be considered. Office parks pop into mind. They create traffic but will also bring in revenue to local businesses. What are the pros and cons of supermarkets or super-stores, i.e. Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Target or some popular restaurant chains, i.e. Chili's, The Weathervane, The Outback? As one of our selectmen, what type(s) of businesses do you think would be a good fit?
2. I think "some" of the CPA monies should be designated for recreational use within the town of Dracut. We have tons of young and growing families in town with not many options for fun. Some ideas include parks, neighborhood playgrounds, more ballfields, bike and walking paths, public swimming, picnic, and beach areas, fishing and boating areas, teen centers, golf courses, tennis courts, community centers, a town common, and preserved walking trails like the Dunlap Sanctuary.
3. The library and police station definitely needs something. Whether it is a new building or expansion would depend what is more cost effective and what the town can afford. I am not familiar with the needs of town hall so I can't comment.
4. Invest it.
