Oh please!!! A tired arm from waving traffic on by? Sorry, don't buy that at all. Any reasonably fit person would not get a tired arm from directing traffic. Holding one arm up in the air still for an extended time I can see, but no way do I buy your argument there.

And, I don't mind them having coffee at all. What I am talking about is seeing them with their backs to the traffic, talking and laughing with the workers while I sit there wondering if I should proceed or stop. Pretty hard to get a tired arm from that. Furthermore, if they're really all that tired from working the night shift, then maybe they shouldn't haven taken that extra shift to direct traffic. That someone making sure it's safe can just as easily be someone working for the company doing the work.
