Ed,

Let me put this on another level for this message...

I do not believe I need to have knowledge of emission or dispersion models in order to state my concerns and ask my questions. I have sited every source (unsubstanitiated information you say??), most of which comes from Nickel Hill, and invited correction. I ask questions, looking for answers. I come forward with respect. There is no need for you to respond as you have to my efforts and my legitimate questions and I will not correspond with you any further if this continues.

Since I moved to Dracut two years ago I have read long, boring reports, sought help in interpreting them, attended meetings in Boston, presented my position at EFSB, visited other plants, talked with new and potential plant neighbors in other states, met with the VP of Constellation Power, exchanged emails, provided written comments to state agencies, talked with most of the Selectmen, spoken with SCONOx manufacturer, listened to tapes, read manuscripts, attended hearings, talked with neighbors and others in Dracut, spoken with the EPA of other states, had a phone meeting with the Town Manager of a town building a similar plant, spoken with water departments in the Merrimack Valley, participated in a meeting with Senator Tucker, and the list goes on. Don't talk to me about propaganda. THIS IS NOT FUN. This may be up your alley, but it certainly isn't a joyride for me.

And as far as the MVRE is concerned, I am not a member, but I have tremendous respect for the hours of labor and passion that go into a group concerned about our environment and our children. What I have invested is NOTHING compared to their investment and I can tell you there is no personal glory, thanks or attention driving them. They are driven by solid concerns and it has been through their efforts that we have reaped the benefits of the closing of the real dirty one(s). We should be thanking them for their sincere efforts, not casting doubt on their efforts and certainly not calling their work propaganda. I doubt they could gain the support of mayors and town councils as they have if they were offering sheer propaganda.

Now, let me thank you for your investment to the town of Dracut. I know you don't live here anymore, and I don't really understand why you participate in this forum. But I do believe you have spent countless hours working on behalf of the town. I think we just come at this from different angles and therefore disagree. It is fine to disagree. It sounds like you have technical experience and detailed experience in modelling. I have experience in asthma, lung disease and cancer.

Look, I have already put forward details on what I have learned to be the major polluters in the Merrimack Valley. These folks aren't going away. Yes, the large number of motor vehicles is a huge contributer, but we aren't going to get rid of them too soon. And yes, perhaps other towns have made some bad, and regrettable, decisions on industries they have. But again, they are not going away. And yes, things are better than they were 30 years ago -- or are they? I think it is more complicated than that...

This is simple for me - we do not need to add such a polluter to an already polluted area. It is time to clean up this area, not add to it. The industry/residential balance is off. Go to www.scorecard.org. Check it out.
A ton is a ton is a ton.

This is not the legacy I want to leave to my child - our children.

Celeste
