When the tears started falling more intensely all he could do was stand there for a moment - completely frozen. He didn't know how to handle a sad child but as he gazed at her, he realized she was much more than a child. She was a young woman who was aged beyond her years and suddenly he just wanted to comfort her in the same way he would Courtney, if she was upset. So, without a word, he just shifted his large body and swung one thick arm behind her knee's, picking her up against his strong chest. He was silent as he crossed into the living room and sat down on the couch, holding her against his chest as he soothed his hands over her back, just comforting her as best as he could as he let out a low breath. He wouldn't allow himself to fall into memories, flashbacks, he had enough of those but right now he was just offering her his own personal strength - a shoulder to cry on.
