He nodded a little bit before he shifted to wrap his arms around his waist and tugged her close but not to close to his body. He pressed a soft kiss to her back of his head before he sighed deeply and closed his eyes, a yawn escaped his lips as he let his body relax. The pain killers really did a number on him, made him tired and lethargic, a little slow to react and that aggravated him more than anything. It scared him, really, made him feel like he was unable to protect her if something went down. He soothed his hand over her arm absently, trying to lull her to sleep because he could feel her fighting it for some reason and she needed his rest just as badly as he did. He hated that she had been exposed to this aspect of his job, he had wanted to keep her sheltered and protected, hadn't wanted her to see blood and death and he had failed her at that...god, that killed him inside.
