Subject: Brazilian Elections

Dear Editor,

With the big election coming up, there’s one question on everyone’s mind, who will win? Despite President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s involvement in last year’s scandal, his turnaround has brought on a new appreciation for his prior accomplishments. Thanks to his hard campaigning and strong political stands, he has become a hero in the eyes of the Brazilian’s and I believe Lula will be the next President of Brazil. While serving as the President of Brazil, Lula has made many changes to benefit the Brazilians. For example, in 2003, he passed the Social Security Reform of the Civil Service Law that guaranteed retirement payments for civil servants. Lula has also developed welfare programs, such as a Zero Hunger program that donates money to certain areas of the community.

Through these laws and programs, Lula formed a reputation as a fierce leader who cared for the country and its people. He has already gained the support of over 50% of the voters in the country by holding campaign rallies and television advertisements to raise awareness of his work. This support is mainly from the upper side of Brazil, where he has become an idol to the underprivileged. Though he only needs 50% of the popular vote to avoid a runoff election later in October, he is turning his attention to the lower part of Brazil and showing them his persistent efforts in making Brazil a better place.

Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva is the strongest, most experienced leader in the 2006 Brazilian Election and he will be re-elected.
