Subject: Brazilian Elections

Dear Editor,
I am writing to you regarding the upcoming Brazilian elections. Though Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva was rumored to be involved in last yearfs scandal, I feel he has done so many great things to help and benefit the country of Brazil. Lula has lowered inflation, made scheduled debt repayments and decreased the rate of unemployment. He has also called attention to improve the standard of living for the poor. To do so, in October 2003 he came up with a program called, Bolsa Familia, which aided millions of people living in poverty to get out of debt. This program has now benefitted around thirty million people who have a very low income and no means to support themselves.
By his actions, Lula has shown how much he cares for the residents of the country. We can see this from statistics which prove that more than fifty percent of the population is in favor of Lula, with most of his supporters coming from the Northeast where they have benefitted greatly from his reforms. I think that it would be best for Brazil if he is reelected and serves another term in office as president. Even though, there are still many problems facing the country like crime rates and the huge gap between the rich and the poor, I think Lula will continue to help Brazil for the better.
