Dear Editor,

Reading the article “Brazilian Vote Forces Lula Into Runoff”, I felt that this runoff is exactly what Brazil needs to reflect more about which candidate deserves to be President. As a Brazilian, I must say that the succession of political scandals is a shame. But I think that if this last election proved something, was that the people are getting more serious about voting. President Lula still has the support of the poorer, but that’s because many of these people even don’t understand the scandals. “Zero Hunger” is an excellent program, but it doesn’t justify corruption. When Lula skipped an important presidential debate last week, he lost his credibility with many who would vote on him. So, a runoff is important for every Brazilian to think about what is the best for the country, and on which candidate they should vote for.
