Subject: Brazilian Election

The result of last Sunday voting shows that Brazil is clearly divided. Mr. da Silva won in the poor states while Mr. Alckmin won in the richer ones. The support Mr. da Silva got in the mentioned regions reflects the success of his social programs as the number of people living in poverty has decreased. So, it is likely that the second rounding of voting is due to the negative influence of the numerous scandals of corruption in Mr. da Silva’s government. Thus, the question we should ask ourselves is: should we disregard the ethical issues in the name of social equality? As the retrospective of both political parties shows that ethics is not their strong virtue, diminishing the anguish of those who don’t have enough means to survive, seems to be a better course of action. Ethics and other important issues can be dealt with the reinforcement of the law, and a more efficient Justice system.
