Irish Dance Families Off Topic Board
Welcome to the new board! Let us all strive for a polite board open to discussing topics other than Irish Dance (although a bit of that will work in, I expect). Anything that you wouldn't say in front of your Mother shouldn't be said here. Unfortunately there can be no discussion of politics on this board. We have tried and there are those among us who cannot treat this subject with civility and politeness; because of that all of us are being punished for the actions of a few.

Anyone else who's never watched Ophrah show? She's apparently ending her show after almost 25 yrs, in 2011. I'm sure there will be lots of sad folks out there, missing her show. -- no daytime tv for me, 18:04:27 11/19/09 Thu [6]

Dd started a cold about Nov 3rd. NO FEVER. missed two days of school dance... She has showed no signs of infection but she is still REALLY stuffed up. Not to be gross but really a LOT when she blows her nose. She coughs a LOT at night. Only stops coughing when she is propped way up. But she has been dancing fine- so I'm guessing her lungs must be fine. I have been listening to her back (little one used to "squeak" with pneumonia, bronchitis) and it sounds okay. I think the cough is from post nasal drip. She takes sudafed but not much help. any thoughts? would you call the doctor?

I am new to the kitchen (i.e. hate cook, but ready to start trying). I would like to make the pepsi pot roast recipe I saw in the archives. I have a few questions that maybe the poster (or a veteran cook) could help me with.

1. How big of a pot roast do you use?
2. How long do you leave it on for, and at what temp?

i have recently been having a problem with my ipod. it plays well and will charge if i use it in a portable player. however it will no longer connect to my computer and is not recognized in itunes. any advice is appreciated.

Last year we bought good presents for all our nieces and nephews. We took the time, picked them out, spent $50.00 on each of them. We gave my 16 year old niece a nice bracelet/earring set. She said she liked them and when we gave them to her she went upstairs to her house (she lives in a 2 family with my in laws). She came downstairs an hour later with a small tin with fresh (warm) baked cookies in it- 3 cookies which were burned. She gave them to me and said here is your Christmas present. We were an afterthought for sure even though we exchange gifts every year. She didn't even hand it to my kids (her present was from the kids). Then she asked for the tin back when the cookies were gone. They were so burnt we couldn't eat them. So this year I'd like to save a little mone-I know it's the thought that counts but she hadn't (nor had her parents) thought of my kids until she got a gift from them. We had been exchanging gifts forever with them and they usually got appropiate gifts. I know not everyone can to afford $50.00 per kid but I also know her parents make very good money and live rent free. This niece is an only child. Anyone think of a small, inexpensive gift for her. I hate not to give her the same quality as the other but...By the way on this nieces facebook it says she has made all her Christmas gifts already and she doesn't buy anything she makes everything. I was thinking of taking a box cookie mix and putting it in a bag with dirrections on how to make cookies. Is that mean? Any other ideas.
