Saw this the other night. I dug it but wasn't overly impressed. I guess I was a bit disappointed but only because of all of the build-up. Ahh well though- Winslet boobs aplenty! Also to note is that the kid's dong we all saw was only 18 and production had to be halted so that he could turn 18 to film that scene. Yessss!!!

Anyone else who saw this- thoughts/reactions?

Amy and I have not yet decided when the DC visit will take place. It's still pending. Sorry to interested parties for holding anyone up.

look, the std and sod provisions are clearly not the best ways of generating jobs but they aren't completely meritless. people would have to prep, cut, and lay the sod on the mall. ditto for std education. people aren't going to educate themselves. also, as a result of this latter effort, people will hopefully not get stds. this, in effect, eliminates the huge cost of treatment. saving money is just as good, if not better, than spending money to stimulate.

Saw Taken over the weekend and saw the Wrestler last night. Taken was good, but it was no Bourne. Also I did not like how Liam was invincible for the whole movie up until the very end. I liked the action, but I did not like how lucky the guy's investigations turned out to be. It appeared to me to be a crappy adaptation of a book.

The Wrestler was amazing. Micky Rourke is my winner for Best Actor. I had no idea that wrestling matches were predetermined. But I was glad that the movie ended with a happy ending with the Ram making his way back up to the top. Note: there may or may not be some sarcasm there.

Nip/Tuck has been entertaining this year. I don't like how they are rotating through all the regulars this year, but Christain is as awesome as ever. Now that the silly breast cancer thing is done with, he can go back to crushing ass again. Did anyone else notice the boob shot last night!

Vert/Vic, I noticed you guys were fans of MGMT. I heard one of their songs on XM and liked it. Any recommendations for songs or albums to check out?

Woke up, looked outside, checked the weather and realized that is was actually raining now instead of snowing, "worked" from home for an hour checking email, avoided rush hour and had no issues driving in. It only took me about 5 extra minutues to get in but that was due to the rain.

My office is about half full. I think all the schools are off today so a lot of parents had to stay home.

i am here at work way too early. we have a 2 hour delay but, because i had no idea about our company's status hotline, i braved ice-covered roads to get here.... i'm pretty much the only person here... which is nice. it's very quiet and i can cruise the internet at my leisure. glorious.

jono, it's ok man. i understand.

joo, you can admit you love bromance. no one will judge you... too much.

on to some footie news (since i haven't posted any in recent history). beckham wants to leave la and stay with ac milan (he is currently on loan with them through early march). his contract has a break clause that would allow him to leave for free in october, so it would baffle me if la refused to take the money now. we shall see.

also, spurs continue to buy back their former players at inflated prices... awesome. this will not bother me when they sign back my boy robbie keane, the irish assassin.

danny granger is WAY more underrated than Kevin Durant. case and point. I bet everyone on this board knows who Kevin Durant is. I bet there are a few that dont know exactly who Danny Granger is. Now go bring up their numbers or better yet go to a bar with nba game pass and watch them play. Not saying Granger is better or will be better than Durant. Just saying hes got superstar potential as well and he gets talked about even less.

its not even that he did a bad job of backing up his point. His original point is completely outrageous. Manny is not underrated. He is widely considered one of the best hitters to ever play the game and he has the salary to prove it. I dont know where this belief that there are people out there who underrate manny is coming from.

I will agree that Durant may be a tad underrated right now. But come on. There are SOOOO many more underrated people in sports right now. and hes declaring these two as the ONLY underrated people in sports. wow. thats quite the declaration. I would love to hear his thoughts on Nnamdi Asomugha, Jake Long, Brandon Roy, Tayshaun Prince, Lance Berkman, Hanley Ramimerez...just a few off the top of my head.

Vic, I thought the same thing. The SG is really mailing it in with columns anymore. It is a real shame too because there are a lot of sports out there worth following. I don't think that he has written a single column about college basketball yet this year. What a mess.

At least the column didn't include a Swingers or Teen Wolf reference in it. Do you think he realizes that he still needs to remain somewhat current with the 20 year olds of today? Swingers is about 15 years old and Teen Wolf is even older.

I DID download Gran Torino, The Reader & Frost/Nixon (much like Joey). I have yet to watch them, though.

So, Amy and I left KS on Friday and went to Sedalia to hang with Amy's parents. I say hang because I cannot think of a better way to describe what we did. I also cannot understand why we went. It has something to do with not being able to go there for a few weeks if we didn't go this past weekend, but even that makes little sense. We regularly see and hang out with them when they make trips to the city for various reasons. I would say it was to see our niece (who we see less often), but she was tied up with in-laws visiting from out of town, so that didn't matter.

Anyway....

When we weren't sitting around talking, we were sitting around eating. When we weren't eating, we were avoiding watching TV with Amy's dad on the giant plasma in the biggest room in the house. We were avoiding him because he watches either (a) rehashed poker telecasts, (b) History channel nonsense (sometimes good), (c) crappy old movies, (d) DVR'd country music concerts/specials, (f) FOX News or (f) random flicking of all of the above. When we weren't avoiding that and actually doing that, I spent time on crosswords or reading my Goodgle Reader stuff on my phone. When not doing that, we were in a hot tub.

That's it (except for some Obama shit-talking thrown in there as well).

I will say that it was a brutally boring weekend, but this is rarely the case. We usually have a reason to go there, but this time, we did not. Hence, the explanation of the suckiness. Ahh well- I guess I'll have these things now that I am married. They are awesome in-laws, they give us a ton, they take us out to eat and provide us with free food all of the time, and are extremely nice and generous people. I love them and wish them to be a part of our lives forever. Just want to get that straight.

We came home on Sunday, kicked some ass at Lowe's and fixed some shit at the house and then went to sleep. In the meantime, I somehow lost my fucking MagLite.

All in all, a solidly unfulfilling weekend. However, this weekend is set to be wonderous. I'm in all-day meetings for the next 2 days, so consider me a gay on the board until those are over.

Question: Is Hilary Swank hot?

Basically, it was a SUPER boring weekend. I am looking for things to pick up this week and weekend. Also, I am dying for the weather to just get a little bit warmer outside.

My weekend was spent outside Pittsburgh in WV visiting Jen's friend. Jen's friend has a 2 month old baby which is not fun at all. Apparently the kid didn't understand that we were trying to play Mario Party and kept crying. This weekend did not help Jen's plan to have kids in the near future. Jen's friend did, however, have a hot tub which was used Saturday night. Highlights of the weekend included: the hot tub, and trying Budweiser's new American Lager which wasn't bad.

Today's gym trip went horribly wrong. First, the new bottle of shampoo I bought was left in my car all weekend and was frozen. Second, I locked my keys inside my locker. Luckily I have a spare car key in my wallet so now I have to go buy a new lock for my locker. Since the locker is at the fire station, I will use unnecessary force with the jaws of life to get the old lock off.

my oh my. what a weekend.

friday was nutso. lots of beer, patron, brazilians, and cheesesteaks. nothing like getting home at 445 in the morning. hope you had a nice night heaviepoo.

saturday i slept as late as i could.... which sadly was only 12 since caruso had 2 aunts come over early and they were loud, thus making my sleeping in almost impossible. so after being a zombie for several hours, i ran around to do some errands, ate as much bread as possible, played some wii fit with everyone, went out to dinner with everyone, then had to go to a cocktail party in leesburg, vuhginia. it was bonafide.

sunday i played lots of fallout 3. still absolutely loving the game. glad to see that joo joined in on the fun. joe/joo, where are you guys in the game thus far? run into anything nuts? i am presently working my way around the entire map, trying to find all the locations. this is actually a great way to level up as you get xp for finding places, plus you get xp for killing the bad dudes you run into. also, it's very useful later in the game when you can instant travel to a location to continue the quest.

"You get outraged because a team got beat 100-0 and people made a stink. However when it comes to the money you fork over to the govt you say give dummies jobs." what?!? how these views are mutually exclusive is beyond me.

oh boy, just learned that i get to give the new hire legal presentation to 30-some people today. hooray.

I joked with Laura that I was wondering if a whole MIA album would be played during the course of the movie, and how that would make the movie an Indian version of Dark Side of the Moon / Wizard of Oz.

Sunday was relaxing. I went out only to get coffee and then pick up Fallout 3, which I am enjoying thus far. What actually made me decide b/w GofW 2 and Fallout3 was Hafer's passion for the game, followed by Joe's corresponding, albeit brief, review.

My impression of Biden's temper leaves me slightly uneasy, mainly because he will have contact with people that may piss him off (even unintentially), but need to be handled gently (i.e. - international delegates). The man lacks a good poker face, in my opinion.

Back to work. We're expecting 6-8 on Wednesday. Woot?

I also really liked Lost. I am a huge fan of Faraday.

The Eagles game on Sunday was completely insane. An entire range of emotions. Poyser said to me he was just really disappointed and I felt the same way. It really was wide open this year. I LOVE D Jack. Love him. Saying that it made me feel bad for Mo Clarett (similar forced fumble). Now wait I know he is an asshole. But the dude was obsessed with the fact that LeBron could jump straight to pros (note both grew up near each other in Ohio) and he had to go to college for two years. I actually really think he was right, if you can join the Army when your 18, get a job at 18, why can't you play a sport after 18? You are an adult right? I never got why this was allowed. But I digress.

I am extremely glad Obama is president now. He wants to put science back in its rightful place. I am certainly a fan of that. George W. Bush may have meant well, but fundamentally did pretty much the opposite of what I would have done on pretty much every issue. At least he really liked baseball.

Things are going well with the girlfriend. She is coming up tomorrow and I am going to do her very hard.

On another note I just got done on the phone with my mom. Our phone call went something like this:

1. Joe I love you so much thank you for calling (ok so far)
2. Your so snotty since you became a big man (I try to dismiss as my mother often says things without thinking and the call is winding down)
3. When are you going to call your sister? (To which I say no time soon since she is in an awful mood, is generally a pain in the ass, and pretty much abused me growing up)
4. Looks like someone is bitter. (Now I am annoyed)
5. Is it so horrible to call your only sister once and awhile (I can't take multiple insane comments and guilt in the same phone call, so I say I have to go and hang up).

This is probably a good time to point out my girlfriend is nothing like my mother. Probably why I love her so much.

Just not as much as Jono or Heaves.

I will be around to celebrate Senor Heaves's birthday tomorrow.

I agree Joey; I actually wish every epsiode was 2 hours. I am curious to see how this season progresses.

Actually, Hafer, the midget got shot into the air and landed in Los Angeles, amongst about of rich snobs who have absolutely no grasp on reality and have the intelligence and usefulness of a mossy rock. After spending about 2 minutes listening to them speak, his ears began to bleed profusely and saw a bright light. Suddenly, he found himself in NYC, but to his extreme dismay, also found himself amongst a DIFFERENT group of rich snobs who also had no grasp on reality and had the intelligence and usefulness of a used Trojan Magnum. At this point, he realized that he had died and gone to hell, which was being ruled by Judy McGrath.

did the aliens come? what about some other kind of supernatural force? actually, i figured out what the deal is with lost. the island is actually fantasy island. somehow the midget was trapped down in one of those stupid shelters and failed to hit his reset button causing an ejector seat to fire him into the ocean. as for ricardo montalban, he's dead, so that's why he isn't on the show. his death, however, has not limited his ability to mess with reality, as evidenced by the fat man remaining fat and people actually thinking the show is good. that must be it.

last night's bball games were very good. saw 2 big upsets (northwestern over msu and votech over wake). also saw most of unc/clemson. i am very excited for march madness. any number of teams could win it this year.

Hey everyone, welcome to the first day of the week for a bunch of the working world. If memory serves me right, both Heaves and Hafer are either off or "working from home." I hope that you both stay out of trouble this inauguration Tuesday. I think that the cold weather is going to do a lot to keep violence at a minimum because cold people typically just want to get warm and not kill another cold person. However, we will see how this plays out today.

I am excited to watch the highlights from the inauguration when I get home from work today. I will follow that up with watching an episode of 24 just to top off all of my patriotism today.

I think that I am finally almost over the Eagles loss. I can only take real solace in the fact that the Phillies won the World Series. It is silly how many times I have had to tell myself this in the approximately three months since it happened.

Hafer, Fallout3 started strong. I will hopefully be playing the game some more this week.

Friday night I drove up to Gillett PA to visit Jen's old roomate. This area is depressing and everyone just drinks a lot so they die faster. We were up til 4 Friday morning drinking. It was -10 outside. Saturday we went out and shot clay pigeons. Shooting guns is fun. I also took some shots with a rifle with a rediculous scope on it. I felt like I was playing Tom Clancy, but holding my breath didn't help my aim. Saturday night we went bar hopping to some aweful dive bars. One of them was pretty scary. But the beer was cheap.

As for the Eagles, I agree with Poyser. I'm disappointed and I just wish that they hadn't made the playoffs at all because they didn't deserve to be there. As for the team, the defense, minus dawk, is young and in good shape. We definitely need an RB. If they get rid of McNabb, I'm worried about our success with Kolb.

Vert, I agree 100% about Pineapple Express. The end of the movie is hilarious though. I couldn't stop laughing when Red shot off the foot.

Joo, good work on the video. I was amused so much that I downloaded RealPlayer so I could watch the original movie again. The original is still way awesomer.

if mcnabb goes, so does reid and the kevin kolb era starts. That will bring me back to the the Doug Pedersen/Torrence Small/Charles Johnson era...oh boy what times those were.

I watched Pineapple Express last night. The first half wasn't great, but the second half of the movie killed and was insanely funny.

more like turd burger... hehehe.

seriously though, how do you scuff your toe and kick a punt 21 yards in the afc championship game? i mean, really guy. come on. fortunately for him (and just like sweed with his huge hit that caused the ravens to lose a to for injury), he made a td saving tackle on the ravens 3rd quarter punt return.

with respect to the iggles, a lot of espn talking heads are saying mcsuck is gone. i wouldn't be sad to see him go in the least, but feel the guys they have now are a huge step down. i could see the iggles splurging on a cassel type (assuming brady comes back healthy) just to say they tried to make a move. i also think reid needs to go. now. please. and i don't mean on a diet.

Nice Pet Detective reference, Poyser.

Speaking of punters, I cannot wait until Daniel Sepulveda comes back in 2009! Goodness, the Steelers putning situation is atrocious. Mitch Berger only lives another day because of that Oscar-worth acting job he pulled to get the Steelers 15 yards and a 1st down when they needed it. Otherwise, the guy is a giant joke.

I am not sure where the eagles go now. Their D really came together at the end of the year and they are young enough (minus Dawk) to be a force for a few years.

I have been saying this for weeks to my brother, but their offense is absolutely putrid. There is no creativity, Westbrook has no vision and can't hit holes and Mcnabb can't hit anyone in stride. My guess is they won't make many changes and Mcnabb will be back to make one last run at it. Both of their Tackles are FA, so is Dawk, but they have some money to pay these guys. I would really like to see them get a solid RB in the draft to complement Westy and let Westy do what he does best (operate in space).

As for officiating, that Curtis call was a bad non-call but tough to make there, but (big butt) he was tackled by the guy before the ball got there. You can't blame the officials though when you had opportunities and didn't take advantage and you had a 4th quarter lead with a supposed stout D and gave it up.

I am surprised more people aren't calling for Akers head today, that kickoff out of bounds/missed extra point sequence was terrible.

By the way on the missed extra point did everyone notice that Rocca clearly had the laces in. I wonder if Akers is sitting alone in his room somewhere with a notebook that says "Die Sav Die" or "Laces out Sav"

I think it was incidental. The guys tripped and put his hands out as he was going down. Could've been called either way, but in that situation, I agree with the non-call. Poyser is right about the non-call on Avant though.

It's a tough call as to where the Eagles go next. One thing is for certain though- Joo is in good spirits. The Steelers, his 8th generation back-up team, are still alive in the playoffs, so he's good.

on the eagles last possession, 4th and 10, should a flag have been thrown for, at least, illegal contact? i think all the replays show clear contact on white chocolate. i thought that was an inexcusable oversight... then again, i thought the refs in both games this weekend were pretty awful.

I hope the Eagles players watched the first half of the Steelers game and realized that you are supposed to tackle in both halves not just the second half.

I was not upset yesterday with the Eagles loss, just disappointed. It has nothing to do with the Phils winning, but the fact that the Eagles needed the Raiders to beat the Bucs and the Texans to beat the Bears to get in.

I already texted Jono yesterday about Parker's alligator arms, but Sweed did the same thing on his drop near the end zone. Big Ben should be tearing this guys up in film study this week because he is a tough mother fucker.

I can see being upset about that. Amy and I both noticed that the stadium played that music almost the entire time he was being tended to. Werid, but luckily Willis will be OK.

But...

That's. How. We. Do. We knock motherfuckers out! Ask Wes Welker.

God, I am a proud Steelers fan today. They've gone through the toughest schedule ever in the history of the NFL (and finised 12-4) and now look like the cannot be stopped. I know one thing about the Cardinals- they haven't see a defense like the second coming of the Steel Curtain. I cannot believe I have to wait 13 more days for this!!

My apologies to the Philly guys. As Hafer said, at least you've got the Phillies and a World Series ring. That should heal the pain a bit more easily.

Eagles fan or not, I recognized Tomlin as a great coach. He is the youngest to ever have a team go to the Superbowl, and he has kept the legacy that Cowher left. I also like the fact that he is a flatliner coach: The times I have seen him coach I have seen very little emotion from his face during the game. He is sotic, and I like that (similar to Reid).

His mother must be very proud. Fuck the Cardinals.

no sour grapes. I was just pointing out something I read. The fans were fine, it was just the fact that they were playing music (Doobies) the whole time he was down and getting loaded onto the stretcher. When I was watching, it did seem somewhat odd. Usually the stadium gets quiet.

Super Bowl line opens at 6.5. I'm trying to sell myself on a Cards moneyline.

If this is true, then the bloggers are gayer than gay, and dumber than Bush.

Tomlin, Rothlesberger, and some of the Pittsburg trainers were right there with the Ravens staff while tending to McGayhee (yes, I spelled it like that on purpose). They were equally as concerned (in fact, Tomlin was seen speaking with some of the Raven's players on his side of the crowd), and the crowd cheered as he was being removed from the field (plus what hafer said about the people saying "good luck, buddy".)

The Eagles need to develop some discipline. Reid needs to stop treating his team like his kids.

how many big hits were there in the game last night? the opening kickoff had a huge hit where the guy had to be helped off the field. liamus sweed (aka braylon edwards of pittsburgh) laid out ivy on heath millers late catch (only to have miller lay out another stabber on the way out of bounds). there were several others (that i can't think of off the top of my head) that my bro and i watched again and again on tivo.

it was glorious.

the medical staff used the same amount of care in removing willis as they did for big ben 3 weeks prior. the crowd was very quiet when he was down (being a huge pansy) and clapped politely when he was being carted off. the live tv feed even picked up people saying "good luck, buddy" as he entered the tunnel. what the eff did they want the stillers to do? besides, if it was ray lewis laying out someone from the stillers (which wouldn't have happened as the stillers aren't soft like the stabbers) they wouldn't have done anything different. sounds like sour grapes to me.

first things first. sorry to the philly contingent. mcsuck looked like his super bowl self in the first half. throw in receivers who refuse to catch and no real running attack and you get the jesus express in the super bowl. at least you have the phillies.

some comments on the early game. as the sports guy pointed out in his podcast and his column, why didn't the iggles double up on larry fitz? i mean, he's kind of ok. bouldon was playing on one stump and wasn't a real threat and, even if he was, isn't that something you're willing to gamble on? that baffled me. also, why in science didn't the iggles blitz more? the times that they did warner looked like his old concussed self. sit back and he picked the iggles apart. it doesn't make sense to me.

now to the late game. can we all stop hearing about how wonderful flacco is? he's shite (with a uni-brow). pure and simple. just because he looks like he's missing a few chromosomes doesn't mean he should be handled with kids' gloves. end of rant.

other than the above, the stillers did what they had to do to win, namely, don't make too many dumb mistakes and play good d. i am a bit surprised that willie didn't do a bit better running the ball, but i chalk his numbers up to the stabbers doing blow before the game to get hyped up. no other explanation makes sense.

early super bowl prediction: stillers 78 - cards 3

other weekend fun:
1) lots of wii fit
2) lots of fallout 3 (joe, what do you think?)
3) gran torino (great movie)
4) lots of boozing with sniffy yesterday
5) sleep

So, my boss took on like 140 new people to his group. This group used to be 215 people before my boss took them on. The people that I timed in Florida with a stopwatch are also a part of this group. We have stuff that tracks what they do, but for the most part, they are under managed, some of them have no direct supervisor within 100 miles of them and we're not really sure how hard they are working.

Anyway, earlier this week my boss & I decided to put together a sheet that these people will have open while they are working on a daily bases and actually log what they are doing throughout the day. Sort of like a diary, with time entries, etc. Really, we're not sure how much value this will have but psychologically, it should have a big impact (think: "oh no, they're watching us now!") So, along with this sheet, I distributed a communication letting the supervisors of these people what was up and to have them share the communication to said 140 people. This went out yesterday. Here are some actual (unedited specifically to detail how retarded some of them are) e-mails I have been forwarded by some of these 140 people…

"We have S/O productivity reports from NOAS, LAMS & TT reports from CIRAS and ACD reports from Centergy that track everything we do . Why will we now be wasting time logging information that already done systematically, when we could be doing actual work. I realize the management team has devised this spreadsheet, but apparently they don't know there are reports that track this."

"I thought all the tracking was done BEFORE RELEASING WORKING PEOPLE that was getting the job done? Now we need to spend unavaible time keeping track that is suppose to be done with THESE GREAT COMPUTERS. Something needs to give and take some stress off the rest of THE WORKING PEOPLE.
My opinion,"

"If the people higher up, would sit down with fac. Tech. they would have a REAL idea of what we do."

"I agree with all that has been said in this string of e-mails. It is very discouraging to find out that you are about to have to waist valuable time doing needless tracking. It is becoming increasinly hard enough to get the days work out as it is.
This is insulting"

Oh my- people hate me. Ha!

Top 4 are probably Hosea, Jeff, Stefan and Fabio (in no particular order). I like Jeff, but I think he'll end up making a HUGE mistake somewhere down the line. He needs to stop making parfaits and that all that nonsense. Hosea is good but needs to step it up a bit to separate himself from the herd. The foreigners know what they are doing, and I think could win depending on who of the remaining cast makes the most mistakes. Yes, unfortunately this season comes down to who makes the least mistakes and not who stands out as being the best. I would love to root for Fabio. His name is Fab-o-licious and he cracks me up. I don't know if I can root for a non-american though. U.S.A.! U.S.A!

While I haven't watched this week's episode yet, my favorite all season has been Fabio. I used to like Stephan, too, but he's becoming more and more sucky. Amy's favorite is the lesbian who does scallops all of the time.

Ahh well- it is a sucky season. When does Project Runway come back?

Because I loved pro wrestling so much growing up, it made watching that movie all the more enjoyable. I wouldn't say it is in my Top 10, because I didn't think that the movie itself was great overall. But all of the wrestling stuff, all of the behind the scenes stuff, etc. made my day.

airbus good, birds bad.

Tony, Jeff from Top Chef seems like the only other level headed guy on the show. I've maintained through the years that you need a certain personality to win that show, Hosea and Jeff have it, no one else does. That old lady who got voted off this week had quite the roller coaster ride, but overall she sucks.

Usair Airbus crashed into the Hudson. Why? Because it's a fucking Airbus.

Joe - Your opinion of the Wrestler, in my own opinion, is spot on. Rourke's performance was awesome.

Jono - Your statement about why you are worried is actually good. Based on my own dealings, and what I have seen in the past, if you are productive and smart (which you are), they will put you into a new department or position and train you. Of course, they might not, but hopefully they'll be smart and do so. If they reassign you and you are miserable, then leave, as you shouldn't be miserable at work every day. Regardless, I hope all goes well.

Tony - Thank you for posting the pic. More to follow in the future.

I went to RI for business and had dinner at the Capital Grill. I ran into Rob Corddry, and chatted with him briefly; he is a cool cat.

The guy I picked (Eugene) is out. A couple of episodes after I picked him I realised he wasn't going to make it. I've now latched onto Jeff. I do agree, though, that this season has been subpar compared to last year. There's just not a lot of creativity and innovation this year.

Is anyone keeping up with Top Chef this season?

My early pick Hosea has been doing well (mostly) and is the favorite to win in my opinion (Jeff is also good). Stefan is a douche and his attitude sucks, fuck him. Everyone else SUCKS.

Overall, I think this is the worst season I've seen. Toby Young is over-bearing and lame. Why did they let Ted Allen leave.

I am not sure if I said this, but The Wrestler is by far my most favorite movie of the year and definitely enters into my top 10 favorite movies of all time. The movie was just simply incredible and I hope that it wins best picture. It touched me much more than Slumdog Millionaire and it's going to be a movie that sticks with me longer.

my take is that apple remains a good value in the tech sector. while apple doesn't really have any kind of succession policy in place i refuse to believe that jobs is the only reason the stock went from $7 to current values. also, most of the analysts that i've seen have maintained their stock evaluations for the year (some have dropped their target prices while keeping their overall ranking the same).

to me, apple remains the sole innovation leader in the field. iphones are expected to be 40% of the smartphone market over the next few years and osx continues to lead the way. it will be interesting to see how apple shakes up the ipod line as the overall market is reaching/has reached its saturation point. they will need to come up with something new to bring in new/continued buyers.

I was actually suprised that it was only 4.5 myself. I was expecting double-digit percentage drop (I was guessing more like 10-15).

What this tells me is that, Jobs or not, Apple's price is not factoring in a lot of future earnings right now. My guess with AAPL now is that it will underperform the market because it's stock price is not inflated. If AAPL paid dividends, one could really consider it a blue chip these days. They have the market segment, especially in cell phones, to support it. But without any guaranteed return, and without Jobs, I would question Apple's ability to grow like it used to.

Nice work, Joo.

Also, I may have overstated the job paranoia. It has zero to do with me or my productivity. It has everything to do with the mentality of the company that is taking over my current company. I just don't think they are making the smartest decisions surrounding the type of business that I am currently involved it. Maybe I will be proven wrong, but it's just my impression.
