Date Posted: 13:48:17 01/01/11 Sat ** All About Capricorn Every sign has a "patron planet," and Capricorn's happens to be no-nonsense Saturn. Astronomers and amateur stargazers find the rings surrounding that beautiful planet simultaneously fascinating and lovely, but these colorful circles are also an appropriate symbol of one of the things Saturn holds dear: boundaries. And as Saturn's favorite sign, Capricorns have definitely learned the value of keeping personal borders intact. After all, without self-discipline, order, rules and regulations, where would we be? Capricorns also have a deep love for structure, a respect for experience and, not least of all, a great big dose of common sense. These folks take only calculated risks and are often the very soul of caution. In fact, if they're not careful, they can end up being a bit too pessimistic. However, this absolutely doesn't mean that Capricorns don't know how to have fun! While their wit is dry and their humor is the exact opposite of slapstick, their sarcasm is unbeatable. What really makes them laugh, though, is intelligent humor -- the more odd and quirky, the better! Capricorns deal with relationships much the same way they handle shopping. Their first step is to see what's out there by simply observing and comparing. They won't settle for anything less than exactly what they want. And once a Capricorn has it, they'll tend to those lucky loved ones much the same way they treat their most treasured items: They'll spoil them, pamper them and do absolutely everything they can to make things last. The fortunate person who ends up in a permanent relationship with a Capricorn can rest assured that there's absolutely nothing they won't do to keep that relationship thriving, especially as years go by! ** Your Starcast for December 21 - January 19 Follow The Stars This Week for invaluable insight into how the cosmos affect your weekly life! December 21: Lunar eclipse in Gemini Hours before the Sun enters Capricorn marking the Winter Solstice, a dramatic lunar eclipse occurs in the last degree of Gemini, highlighting all forms of communication. Whether it's captivating headlines about global and national events, or attention-grabbing information about people in your personal life, it seems like everybody has something to report! Watch for information overload, though. An innovative, yet erratic Uranus-Jupiter conjunction squares this emotional full Moon eclipse, making last-minute changes in plans likely. You'll be less frazzled if you know how to ride the waves of change. December 21: The Sun enters Capricorn The Winter Solstice is marked each year with the Sun's entrance into practical Capricorn, which is always a potent time to reflect upon your past and make plans for your future. Do you have something important you'd like to achieve next year? Do you have a goal to get married, find a job or contribute to world peace? No matter your ambitions, it's time to get down to business! Just like this sign's animal symbol, the mountain goat, set your sight on the highest peak and begin the journey to the top! December 26: The Sun conjuncts Pluto This conjunction brings a completion to a long-term cycle that began with Pluto's retrograde last April. A few months after that retrograde, when the Sun opposed Pluto last June, you had a chance to stand back and assess your power base. Now it's time to renew your focus -- this is a new cycle providing you with a fresh start. Are you standing in your power? Are you letting go of things you no longer need? Are you allowing your life to be transformed? If you know your chart, look at the house where this conjunction takes place. This is where your power base is, and if you don't get in the driver's seat, someone else may step in to take charge! December 29: Mars squares Saturn Sometimes the answer is simply "no." This square marks a time when what you want to do (Mars) meets the rules of the world or a person in a position of authority (Saturn). Can you get around objections or just seek another path? Perhaps. But keep in mind that you may ultimately benefit from delays, or by revising your original intentions. Something needs to be taken into account before you can proceed. Hard work is crucial for this transit -- just because things don't come easily is no reason to give up. Keep your eye on the ball, and stop and regroup as necessary. You'll see more forward movement at the end of the week. December 29: Mercury turns direct The last Mercury retrograde period of 2010 is over -- just in time for the New Year! No more second-guessing! Ever since Mercury turned retrograde in Capricorn on December 10, you've probably changed your mind a number of times. Hopefully, during the Mercury retrograde review, you returned to old ideas, conversations and agreements. Your ambitions (Capricorn) and the beliefs that support them (Sagittarius) have needed a thorough re-evaluation. If you've used this time well, you can now proceed with a more realistic understanding of both where you stand and what you need to do to be successful. With this knowledge, you're better prepared to make important decisions. January 4: Solar eclipse in Capricorn A solar eclipse is an extra-intense new Moon marking the beginning of an important and dramatic period -- one in which you can initiate important projects. Ambitious Capricorn's animal symbol is the mountain goat heading toward the peak, and you too can succeed if you take the necessary steps to reach your goal! Be smart about how you go about achieving what you want. Decide what you want to be responsible for -- and what you don't -- and take action to make your life secure through tangible, practical goals. As the Moon increases in light between this eclipse and the next full Moon on January 19, put your energies toward anything you want to see become stronger in your life. January 4: Jupiter conjuncts Uranus You have goals, dreams and plans, and now is the time to do something with them! In June 2010, these two planets came together in fiery Aries, encouraging you to take the initiative and reach out to the world. It was a time of big statements and actions. Now, expansive Jupiter and independent Uranus join forces in inspirational Pisces, giving you an opportunity to learn all about the power of your dreams. January 7: Venus enters Sagittarius When the love planet enters such a freedom-loving sign, you can't help but want to spread your wings! For those already committed, this is a great time to get out of the house together and take a trip somewhere you've never been -- even if it's in your own town. Single? During this nomadic transit, you'll have a great chance of meeting someone, so don't stay at home! Travel, attend a foreign film or take a language class. You never know -- the person sitting next to you may be your next soul mate! January 10: Mercury sextiles Neptune and squares Uranus Two collective, big-message planets -- Neptune and Uranus -- help you reach higher and think outside the box; they spark your imagination and stimulate your mind. Whether you need inspiration for a project or hope to meet interesting people, these aspects open up your world. Keep your eyes and ears open for opportunities to spice up your life! January 11: Mercury squares Jupiter You are uber-optimistic now and probably have some pretty big plans ... just be careful you don't commit to something you won't be able to follow through on. As hopeful as this aspect can be, it's also one that highlights misunderstandings. Sometimes what we say or even think is not in alignment with our beliefs. This is one of those times when you become aware of this discrepancy in yourself and others. January 12: Mars sextiles Uranus January 13: Mars sextiles Jupiter Are you ready to take your projects, plans and ideas to a new level? As Mars connects with two very independent and freedom-oriented planets, you have plenty of opportunities to connect with new social circles and meet innovative people. Jupiter expands and Uranus adds change and excitement. You may feel restless for new experiences, and these aspects should deliver! Follow your impulse to shake up things up a bit. January 13: Mercury enters Capricorn As Mercury leaves freedom-loving Sagittarius and enters achievement-oriented Capricorn, you're finished exploring for the time being. This is an especially helpful transit for discussing the nuts and bolts of what you want. You're in an especially pragmatic frame of mind that can get your ideas to be taken seriously, so discuss where you want to commit your resources and which projects to take on. Communicate the specifics of what you want to accomplish, and people will do what they can to help you. January 15: Mars enters Aquarius As action-oriented Mars leaves pragmatic Capricorn and enters one of the most independent signs of the zodiac, it's time for you to get creative, innovative and start coloring outside the lines. If you can harness the active, assertive energy of Mars and the determination of this fixed Air sign, you can make inroads into areas you never thought were possible. January 19: Full Moon in Cancer A full Moon always culminates what was set in motion at the previous new Moon, which this time was a solar eclipse in Capricorn on January 4. Back then, your ambitions were in the spotlight; now you have a chance to assess how far you've come, and see what you need to put in place to succeed. The polarity of Capricorn and Cancer reminds you to maintain a sensible balance between your worldly ambitions and your family, home and personal life. For many, this balancing act requires a lot of attention! During this potent and sensitive full Moon, tune into your feelings and make nurturing yourself a goal. In the days following this full Moon -- but before the next new Moon -- plan to maximize what's great, or make changes that will make you feel more comfortable and secure. Enjoy the Sun's transit through Capricorn! ** Astrolesson: The Second House and Your Money The Second House is the house of income. Planets located here in the birth chart naturally have something to say about how you make, save and spend money, as well as how you go about contributing to your material stability. Think of the Second House as your own personal bank, and the planets as employees of your bank. Are they a little too loose with your money? An overly optimistic Jupiter may be in charge. Are they so tight-fisted that you can't squeeze out a dollar for entertainment? Saturn may be worried about your financial future. Pluto may equate power with money and try to amass great amounts of it, while those with Neptune may have difficulty determining the value of their work-product. This is a placement well known for people under-charging for their services, as well as those who have a difficult time asking for a raise. The Second House ruling planet -- that is, the planet that rules the sign on the Second House cusp -- resides in one of twelve houses, from where it oversees your money. This planet is your financial gatekeeper. Is it in the Twelfth House? (Who is that man behind the curtain?) Or is it in the Seventh House? (Should you get a pre-nup?) When examining a birth chart, always pay attention to the planets that reside there, never forgetting that the ruling planet has a lot to say about how you handle your finances. If you focus on the best attributes of not only the planets in the Second House, but also the planet that rules, you will help yourself make sound financial decisions! Date Posted: 17:01:00 11/25/10 Thu ** All About Sagittarius Sagittarians are known as the "favorites of the gods" for good reason: These folks are famous for their generosity, humor and optimism, as well as their ability to see the best is every situation, no matter how dire the circumstances. A Sagittarius will find a real reason to celebrate each and every day, something due in no small part to Jupiter, this sign's planetary ruler that's best known for benevolence. Of course, the other side of this coin is excess and extravagance, so in addition to knowing how to laugh -- and how to make others laugh -- Sagittarians are also experts at overdoing everything. At the same time, if a Sag has to be restricted to just one of anything, it better be the most impressive of its kind! Sagittarians are also famous for their love of travel and philosophy -- these people crave knowledge and will spare no effort to satisfy their innate curiosity. Sag's own personal philosophy is that life is nothing more than a series of extended vacations, which is why so many born under the sign of the Archer end up living in a different city, state or even country than where they grew up. When it comes to relationships, Sagittarians often find that some of their most successful ones are with four-legged creatures -- their connection to anything with fur, feathers and even leaves is legendary. Romantically speaking, if you're a human, you can only have a Sag of your very own if you're willing to hold them with an open palm; restrictions will not be tolerated. However, if you let your Sag sweetie know you care, but allow them to live as they see fit, you'll have gained an intelligent, witty and highly impressive partner whose long-term loyalty will astound you. One warning about Sagittarians: Don't ever ask them a question if you can't withstand an honest answer. They're bound to tell the truth above all else, regardless of the consequences -- that way, at least they can be sure you know exactly who they are. And while Sagittarians can get along with just about anyone, many of them are drawn to those born under other Fire signs also living by the motto, "What you see is truly what you get." ** Your Starcast for November 22 - December 20 Follow The Stars This Week for invaluable insight into how the cosmos affect your weekly life! November 22: The Sun enters Sagittarius Where do you want to go? As the Sun travels though this outspoken and future-oriented fire sign, you're ready to look at the road ahead and get an aerial view of your life. Whether you're making short-term plans or looking farther ahead, you're asking the bigger questions now and may even feel philosophical about the choices you've made and the roads you have (or haven't) taken. Since Sagittarius is a travel sign, this is a good time to get out of your familiar environment and explore. November 25: Mercury squares Jupiter Mercury in Sagittarius is very outspoken, while Jupiter in Pisces is quite sensitive. When Mercury squares Jupiter, there's a tendency to think big and even to overcommit. But it's also an aspect that highlights misunderstandings or a clash of views. Sometimes what we say or even think is not in alignment with our beliefs. But you may also become aware that your ideas are not in sync with the prevailing social climate. November 27: Mercury sextiles Neptune and squares Uranus This is a stimulating, imaginative combo, and for any of you who are creatively inclined or trying to get your ideas in front of an audience, you'll have plenty of fun conversations that will gain you attention and help move your project forward. Be extra flexible in your thinking to make the most of this transit! November 29: Venus enters Scorpio Whomever invented the term "soul mate" must have had Venus in Scorpio! As Venus, the relationship planet, heads back into the most intense and passionate sign of the zodiac, you're likely to feel that nothing less than a profound connection will do. Casual conversations won't interest you, and neither will people with commitment issues. If you're single, you're more likely to meet someone if you attend an event or engage in an activity that strikes a deep chord within you. Married or in a serious relationship? Choose a cause in which you both feel strongly -- and watch the sparks re-ignite! November 30: Mercury enters Capricorn Mercury leaves philosophical Sagittarius and enters the realm of earthy, sensible Capricorn. Your mind is done with its wandering, and now you want to nail down specifics. This is a great transit for discussing the nuts and bolts of what you want! Take a realistic approach to everything now, whether you're deciding where you want to commit your resources or which projects to take on. Because Capricorn views life with such a practical eye, while Mercury is here, make sure you don't let pragmatism cross the line into pessimism. December 5: Uranus turns direct Ever since Uranus turned retrograde on July 5, issues about independence have been prominent. And during these last several months, you've likely craved changes in your life that you're now ready to take to a new level. Just when you think you know what's going on, something happens to make sure you stay awake! Change is in the air. Freedom and independence are again big issues right now for everybody, which means that your individual relationship with these themes is pivotal. The more comfortable you are with the concept of change in general, the more you'll be able to utilize this dynamic energy. Don't worry that you're unsure where everything is heading -- there's no way to know right now. We're at the beginning of this transition, so don't hit the cosmic snooze alarm! Instead, wake up and look to the future. We live in a changing world. Now, it's time for you to change along with it. December 7: Sun sextiles Saturn When the Sun in enthusiastic Sagittarius receives this supportive aspect from Saturn, people notice your hard work and want to help you. The way to maximize the possibilities of this sextile is to be extra-aware of your environment and the people around you. The more you know what you're doing, the more help you'll get. So don't hide in the shadows now -- step up and be visible! Saturn loves to recognize and reward hard work. December 7: Mars enters Capricorn Some people have so much energy -- it's amazing what they can accomplish in a day! As Mars enters this ambitious sign, you get a couple of months to emulate them. If you want to achieve anything that will require loads of discipline and tenacity, now is the time to begin! Start that diet or exercise program, find the love of your life or finish your dissertation. When you take the assertive energy of Mars and put it in the sign represented by the mountain goat climbing a peak, there's little you can't do! December 10: Mercury turns retrograde This is an especially important retrograde period because of Mercury's contacts with other planets. Because of this, it's best to keep your ears and eyes open during this time that highlights rapidly changing ideas and events. Mercury begins its retrograde today in pragmatic Capricorn, returns to belief-driven Sagittarius on December 18 for a review, and finally turns direct on December 29 PST and December 30 EST. While Mercury is in Capricorn, focus on how to further yourself and gather information about what you need to build into your life to succeed. Once Mercury enters Sagittarius, review your belief systems. Which ones are helpful? Which ones do you need to ditch? Because this retrograde occurs during the holiday period, make sure you hold onto your gift purchase receipts! If you'll be traveling, double-check your reservations and, in case you're delayed, bring a good book to read and plenty of games for the kids. If you know which house or houses in your natal chart Mercury is traveling through, apply this review to that area of your life. And of course, defer decision-making if possible until after Mercury turns direct. This time is famous for people making mistakes! December 13: Mercury conjuncts Pluto and Mars As Mercury backs into the Pluto-Mars power duo, you return to potent conversations, ideas and people. Make sure they're worthy of your time! These people may be movers and shakers ... or they may be the types who operate out of back rooms. It's up to you to tell the difference and be smart about character judgment. These contacts and conversations may be life-changing in a good way, or they may be troublesome. In any event, they'll certainly be memorable! December 16: The Sun squares Jupiter December 18: The Sun sextiles Neptune and squares Uranus As the Sun in optimistic Sagittarius squares Jupiter and Uranus -- while the latter pair travels together in dreamy Pisces -- the social climate is anything but sensible or focused! Because feelings and sensitivities are heightened right now, this is not the best time for making concrete, rational decisions. See if you can dial back your emotions to help yourself create a feasible plan; otherwise, you may over-commit and not be able to execute your ideas. The Sun's sextile with Neptune presents significant opportunities that will help you take the larger picture into account. December 18: Mercury re-enters Sagittarius Mercury entered Sagittarius last November 8 and now returns to this sign to tie up a few loose ends. Mercury in this fiery, outspoken sign loves to preach! You'll have lots of thoughts and ideas you'll want to talk about. Although there can be a tendency to blurt out whatever's on your mind, nothing beats this placement for enthusiasm and an optimistic frame of mind. Be tactful but inspiring to get the most out of this transit. By the time communicative Mercury re-enters Capricorn on January 13, you'll be ready to commit to a plan of action. December 19: The Sun conjuncts Mercury Your mind is working overtime with retrograde Mercury looping back to this conjunction with the Sun in enthusiastic Sagittarius. This is an excellent time to gather information and investigate various options. An important individual has advice for you or can direct you to people who can help. Don't worry about any delays -- your plans will get back on track after December 30, when Mercury is direct. Enjoy the Sun's transit through Sagittarius! ** Astrolesson: The Houses and Their Rulers When you examine a birth chart, one of the first things you notice is how the planets are distributed throughout the houses. Some charts have heavily occupied houses along with a number of houses that are empty. Does this mean the houses with occupants are more important areas of life? And if there are no planets in a house, does it mean that particular area is unimportant? With eight planets -- plus the Sun and Moon and twelve houses for them to occupy -- everybody has unoccupied houses in their birth chart! It's true that an abundance of planets in one house draws attention to the area of life represented by that house, just as the eye automatically goes to that house when examining the horoscope. For example, if four planets are in the career and public identity tenth house, the person is likely to want to make his or her mark on the world and will naturally gravitate toward positions of leadership. But if the tenth house is vacant, it doesn't mean that person is uninterested in having a fulfilling career; rather, it simply indicates that one must look to the ruler of the house. In this tenth house example, the ruler is the planet that rules the sign on the tenth house cusp. If Virgo is on the tenth house cusp, the ruler is Mercury -- the planet that belongs to Virgo. For instance, if Mercury is located in the seventh house, the person may be naturally drawn to counseling, since the seventh house is the relationship house. Think of the ruler as the landlord of the house. Whether houses are occupied or not, remember to find the ruler for more information on the matters of the house. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 22:47:01 11/10/10 Wed ** All About Scorpio Of all that's been written about Scorpio over the years, an unfair portion of it has been worded to portray those born under this Sun sign as downright intimidating. It's as if simply getting to know them requires superhuman courage and a fully armed bodyguard! It's true that Scorpio folks aren't for the faint of heart. They're not shallow, they won't be manipulated and they'll never settle for less than what they really want. In the Scorpio mind, doing so would equate with giving up -- and that's simply not within their realm of thought. But even when not on a mission, a Scorpio is still sniffing out clues. They're born detectives always on duty, analysts who never stop digging for answers, investigators perpetually in search of information. A mystery is an invitation -- what's below the surface is simply irresistible to them. And speaking of irresistible, if you're attracted to a Scorpio (and vice versa), whether it's been 24 hours or 24 years, rest assured that they'll never cease to amaze, astound and startle you. Just when you think you've got them all figured out -- although you likely stopped laboring under that illusion shortly after you met -- they'll say or do something that will cause you to find them even more fascinating. They're loyal to a fault and perfectly willing to walk through fire for you ... but they've got a well-documented jealous streak, so don't play games with that emotion. Whether or not you opt to make the relationship legal, "Until death do us part" will always apply -- a Scorpio's love lasts forever! ** Your Starcast for October 23 - November 21 Follow The Stars This Week for invaluable insight into how the cosmos affect your weekly life! October 23: The Sun enters Scorpio You won't feel lukewarm about anything as the Sun heads into passionate, emotionally driven Scorpio. This resourceful and determined sign gives you the power and stamina to further yourself in whichever arena you choose. Use the amazing strength of this transit to follow your passion -- whether it's beginning a new career, signing up for the Peace Corps or writing a Pulitzer Prize-winning novel! October 27: Mars enters Sagittarius When action planet Mars enters a new sign, your own course shifts to include new themes. Sagittarius is the sign of the traveler and the seeker, making this a perfect time to escape your familiar environments. It's important to do something with this restless energy! Sagittarius is also a sign concerned with philosophy, religion, ethics and morals, so there is a bit of the crusader in this placement. While you may need to advocate for your beliefs, allow your personal philosophy to guide you in how you go about it. Since others will be just as vocal about what they believe, this is a good time to think about the importance of civil discourse! October 28: The Sun conjuncts Venus The Sun and retrograde Venus come together in what is called the inferior conjunction. Whereas the Sun makes multiple aspects and has a variety of conversations with most planets, because the Sun and Venus are never far from each other, they form only two aspects: the conjunction and the semi-sextile. (48 degrees is the furthest that Venus separates from the Sun.) So whenever they meet for a chit-chat, it's very noteworthy! Think of the Leader (the Sun) and the Lover (Venus) together in intense, determined Scorpio. Are they having an invigorating conversation? Or is the power of the Sun burning up all of Venus's sweetness? One thing is for sure: Issues of relationships and diplomacy are receiving a major review, personally and globally. Six or seven days from now at the heliacal rising, Venus becomes a morning star. This period is known for political instability. November 6: Neptune turns direct Confused these days? Neptune rules your dreams ... but also your fantasies and illusions. As Neptune turns direct -- it's been retrograde since May 31 -- make a plan to reconnect with your goals and ideals. Keep in mind that this mysterious planet moves slowly, taking 165 years to orbit the Sun and spending approximately 14 years in each sign of the zodiac. Slow down, take a deep breath and reduce tension by tapping into your spirituality and higher self. You've learned a lot over these last several months, and now it's time to incorporate everything you know. As you focus on your personal plans, keep the big picture in view to help yourself make good decisions. And as always, examine the house in your own chart where this retrograde in Aquarius occurs for extra insight. November 7: Venus enters Libra Venus has been retrograde since October 8, when we began a journey of relationship review. After transiting through passionate Scorpio, Venus now re-enters her home sign, Libra, where this bright planet will remain for the rest of the month. For some, this will be a trip down memory lane and you will revisit people and review conversations from early September; for others, this brief foray offers a bit of relief from recent intensity. For everyone, you'll want to focus on your similarities with others and put your differences aside. This is a very social transit and you're unlikely to want to just stay at home. Venus will turn direct in Libra on November 18, when you'll finally see some forward movement with your personal and business relationships. November 8: Mercury enters Sagittarius Communication planet Mercury traveling through such an outspoken sign (Sagittarius) is sure to bring plenty of statements -- followed by retractions and explanations! Honesty and frankness are hallmarks of this fire sign, but make sure you mix in a little sensitivity or you may say something you regret. At the same time, no sign is more enthusiastic than Sagittarius, making this a wonderful time to dream big! November 9: Pluto conjuncts the north node Pluto's entrance into achievement-oriented Capricorn on January 26, 2009 brought brand new obsessions, along with the need to transform all things Capricorn. This is the sign of the Builder, and the idea that how you build is just as important as what you build. Look to where Pluto is transiting in your own birth chart to get a better handle on what you'll be renovating -- or tearing down and rebuilding. The north node entered Capricorn on August 20, 2009, and now as Pluto conjuncts the north node, determine what you need to build into your life, then take the reins and assume the responsibility to make it happen! November 14: Mars sextiles Saturn Mars in restless Sagittarius gets help from serious Saturn as you're given opportunities to implement those plans and projects you've been tweaking. Saturn represents how you're building your life, especially in material terms; Mars represents your motivation and desire. Together, these two can move mountains, but you need to take advantage of the help that's available! November 18: Jupiter turns direct Jupiter turned retrograde on July 23 in bold Aries. Then on September 8, Jupiter backtracked into imaginative Pisces, giving you time to reconnect with your muse. Projects and plans that have stalled since July now finally get the green light. Undoubtedly, these last several months have brought lifestyle changes along with revised goals and ambitions. You may have asked yourself more than once, "What will it take to get to the next chapter?" Hopefully you've spent these past months re-evaluating your life and circumstances, and are now ready to charge full steam ahead to get the changes you've envisioned up and running! If you know your chart, examine where Jupiter is currently traveling -- its house location can give you ideas about the areas of your life you want to expand. November 18: Venus turns direct You've had your relationship review. You've revisited your past. You've withdrawn to evaluate how you're relating to yourself, and to see if your values are aligned with how you're living your life. Perhaps you and your partner spent time with a counselor; you may have even renewed your vows. Now it's time to assess the changes that have occurred since Venus turned retrograde on October 8, and put into practice everything you've discovered about yourself and your loved ones during the retrograde period. November 21: Full Moon in Taurus The Taurus full Moon highlights finances, making this a perfect time to make sensible decisions about how you want to spend and save your money. Taurus rules money and the material world, as well as themes of value and worth. This is where your emotions are. The Sun is in Scorpio, a sign of power and other people's values and money, so others may weigh in about your spending habits. Jupiter and Venus, newly direct, are strongly influencing this full Moon. As optimistic as this duo is, don't be foolish when it comes to spending your money! Also, Neptune challenges via a square aspect, and you can easily miss something or become overly idealistic. Use this time to make tangible, practical investments in your life that make you feel content and secure. Enjoy the Sun's transit through Scorpio! ** Astrolesson: Neptune's Final Months in Aquarius Neptune has been transiting through Aquarius since 1998. We are currently experiencing the last stages of this important transit, as on April 4, 2011, Neptune enters its own sign, Pisces. Neptune symbolizes spiritual consciousness and Aquarius is the sign of the group. Think of all the changes in your life -- and the world -- since 1998. Prior to that, when Neptune was in Capricorn for 14 years, the concept of achievement was rooted in your ability to pull yourself up by your own bootstraps and not burden anybody. However, Neptune's entrance into Aquarius brought a huge shift in consciousness. Over the last dozen years, people have helped themselves by joining groups and linking with others. Aquarius is also the sign of the humanitarian; it says we are all equal and that, without a hierarchy, nobody is better than anybody else. This sign symbolizes the concept of the universal family -- that we are members of the same group and that it is important to respect and recognize the rights of each individual. Aquarius is an Air sign -- the sign of the visionary who brings new ideas, knowledge and illumination. Take advantage of these final months that Neptune will be in Aquarius. Reach out to groups, spend time with friends and colleagues, support equal rights and become one of (or just support) the world's leading visionaries! [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 23:45:07 10/20/10 Wed Yes, Jack O'Lanterns keep away evil spirits that may linger around or in the home. Jack O'Lanterns have always been used to keep away evil spirits around Halloween. There is an old Irish story about a man named "Stingy" Jack. Stingy Jack invited the devil for a drink, so he convinced the devil to turn himself in a coin so that Jack could purchase their drinks, since Jack was too cheap and didn't want to pay for his drink, once the devil changed himself into a coin, jack decided to keep the money and put it into his pocket next to a silver cross which would prevent the devil from changing back to his orginal form. But eventually,Jack freed the devil under certain conditions and that was the devil could not bother Jack for one year and if Jack should die within that year then the devil could not claim his soul. The next year came and Jack once again tricked the devil into climbing up a tree to pick a piece of fruit. While up in the tree Jack carved a sign of the cross into the tree so that the devil could not come down until the devil promised Jack not to bother him for 10 more years. Well soon after this took place Jack died and as legends go...God would not allow such a person like Jack into heaven. The devil, still very upset by the tricks jack played on him and keeping his promised by not claiming Jack's soul, would not allow Jack into hell. Jack was sent off into the dark with only a burning coal to light his way. Jack put the coal into a carved out turnip and has been walking the Earth ever since. Remember in Ireland & Scotland the people there used turnips and potatoes to make scary faces- Jack O'Lanterns during the Samhain season. Pumpkins are native to here in the United States so when settlers came here and discovered that a pumpkin could be carved out...that's how we here still have the tradition of craving pumpkins and making Jack O'Lanterns here today. Date Posted: 23:24:25 09/30/10 Thu ** All About Libra Libra is a smiling representative of Venus -- the planet that represents love, beauty, harmony and cooperation. As such, those born under this sign are always ready to do whatever they can to smooth things over, make peace and bring warring factions together. It's not an easy job, but they're good at it -- really good. There's nothing a Libra wouldn't do to keep their loved ones happy. Better yet, they never barge through the door first, take the last piece of turkey on the plate or forget to write thank-you notes promptly. Call to mind all the Libras in your life, and you'll likely see that they're the people you think of first when you're planning a party -- or any social event, for that matter. Contrary to popular opinion, however, Libras don't drift peacefully from one "balanced" situation to the next. If they did, they'd never learn their real job: restoring balance. These diplomatic folks aren't born into perfect equilibrium; rather, they're born knowing how to fix the scales when they're out of balance. That makes Libras experts at bringing peace and harmony to any situation. It's not an easy task, though, so remember that they're often more tired and drained than they let on. Being born with the ability to see both sides of an issue isn't always a gift -- especially when someone needs an opinion. If you're a Libra yourself, then you need to realize (especially when it comes to relationships) that keeping the peace at all times just isn't always possible -- no matter how hard you try. Still, we can't do any better than you for a partner. You're devoted -- sometimes even to a fault -- and always willing to change your plans to suit what your beloved wants to do. Just be sure not to lose yourself (or your friends, who'll inevitably get tired of waiting around) in the process. Libras are so lovely to be around, however, they'll never be alone -- not if they don't want to be. Indeed, this is as social a sign as there is, extremely well loved by one and all! ** Your Starcast for September 22 - October 23 September 22: The Sun enters Libra Sometimes life feels like you are walking on a tightrope, requiring all your attention just to maintain your balance. This year's Fall Equinox occurs just after the Sun's opposition to the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction and just before the Sun's connection with the Saturn-Pluto square. The word 'equinox' is derived from the Latin word that means 'equal,' and Libra is certainly a sign interested in fairness and equality. Those who know how to compromise and conduct themselves with poise will be miles ahead of everybody else! Meet people halfway whenever possible, and seek common ground rather than highlight your differences. The Sun's aspects highlight the intensity and changeability of these times. Yet at heart, Libra is a social sign interested in relationships, which makes this a perfect time to reach out and spend quality time with those you love. September 23: Full Moon in Aries A full Moon is generally a time of heightened emotions, and when it takes place in the sign of the God of War, people tend to get a bit combative! Count on feeling strongly about what you want to do. Your challenge, however, will be to not mow over anyone who feels differently. This full Moon connects with the current contentious planetary aspects, so be extra thoughtful about what you say and do. At its best, Aries is courageous and pioneering. You will be able to move mountains if you use the bold energy of this sign -- and the passion of the full Moon -- to advance yourself and advocate for others. September 25: The Sun squares Pluto When the Sun in diplomatic Libra squares intense Pluto in ambitious Capricorn, the peace-loving nature of Libra needs to take into account the powers-that-be and prevailing climate of these times. Trying to either control or avoid with niceness will backfire. Remember, although you have power over part your destiny, other areas are outside your control. Determine which is which. There is a difference between fairness and caving in! September 30: The Sun conjuncts Saturn Any conjunction marks a new beginning. This one provides an important reality check and reminds you to step into your authority. It shows you the tools you have to work with, based on previous building. Astrologers have a saying with this one: You get what you deserve. If you've been working hard, you get the payoff. If you haven't, you get a great sense of what you need to do next. Align yourself with those who have clout and the ability to help you. With all the recent aspects to the Sun, you are challenged to meet your responsibilities within a changing environment. You should be used to this by now! October 1: Mercury opposes Jupiter October 2: Mercury opposes Uranus Mercury in Virgo shows a penchant for concise communication and thoughtful planning. But in this opposition to the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction, you will need to prepare for a surprise wild card thrown into the mix! The more comfortable you are with changing your course when this new information becomes available, the better off you will be. Leave plenty of room in your agreements to scribble outside the lines. October 3: Mercury enters Libra Ordinarily this communicative planet transiting from analytical Virgo to social Libra would give your mind a needed rest. But if you have been following The Stars This Week, you already know that the overall environment these days is not very calm! Still, with Mercury in diplomatic Libra, the emphasis is on fairness and justice, making this a wonderful time to smooth over any recent conflicts. Extend the olive branch when you can and pay it forward when possible, extending kindness to others. With so much planetary intensity this month, we'll all appreciate those individuals who can rise above the squabbles! October 3: Venus conjuncts Mars Venus is moving slowly and will turn retrograde in a few days, on October 8. But before she does, she meets up with Mars in a conjunction in passionate Scorpio. These are the planets of attraction (Venus) and desire (Mars). In the midst of all of the recent changes and challenges, these two need a moment to share their hearts, bodies and souls. And so do you! Reach out to someone you love and spend quality time. October 7: New Moon in Libra Today's new Moon in the sign of relationships is on the green-light side of a few challenging aspects, and is now moving toward more harmonious connections. This new Moon marks a new beginning in an established relationship. If you're single, for heaven's sake, don't waste this time ordering home pizza delivery! Libra is an extremely social sign. Whether you institute a date night, attend a local event or start a film club, use the energy of this new Moon to enhance your relationships. With Venus about to turn retrograde, don't be surprised if you hear from someone in your past. October 8: Venus turns retrograde Sometimes we need to re-assess our relationships to see if we are still heart-connected. Last month, Venus entered intense Scorpio on September 8. Now this relationship planet turns retrograde in this passionate sign, and it's time to take care of unfinished relationship business and gain a deeper perspective on matters of the heart. This current retrograde begins at 13 degrees of Scorpio, returns to Libra on November 7 and finally turns direct on November 18. Since all retrograde periods signal a time of review, you may not only gain a greater understanding of your current relationships, but also return to events and conversations that didn't receive your full attention before. The house where Venus is retrograding in your natal chart will give you further information about this important review process. October 8: Mercury conjuncts Saturn You've heard of the Miranda warning? (It begins with the words, 'You have the right to remain silent.') When the planet of communication joins with disciplined Saturn, be sure to weigh your words carefully! If you've done your homework, your words will carry authority and power; if you haven't, you'll spend so much time trying to explain yourself, you'll wish you hadn't opened your mouth in the first place! October 16: The Sun conjuncts Mercury On September 3, when Mercury was retrograde, the Sun and Mercury came together in a conjunction in Virgo. Back then, you received information you were unable to put to good use, but hopefully you used that time to research and gather data. These two come together again, this time in Libra, and finally a plan comes together. It's time to reap the benefits of all your conversations, agreements and ideas over the last couple of months. This marks a time of new beginnings, new plans and new ideas. Finally you get the go-ahead to do something with them! October 17: Mercury quincunx Jupiter This aspect can bring unexpected information and surprising news. Sometimes what you get is not what you thought was coming. Now that retrograde Jupiter has returned to Pisces, your ideas are challenged as Mercury forms this curveball aspect. Or perhaps there is a disconnect between what you say and what you believe -- or between your thoughts and another's worldview. Mercury in Libra wants to avoid conflict. Still, the emotions of Jupiter in Pisces can flood the social discourse in ways that may make intuitive sense, but lack logic. October 20: Mercury enters Scorpio With Mercury's entrance into passionate Scorpio, we enter the deep waters of feelings and intuition. Now, your hunches and instincts get top billing. But also, with the planet of communication in such a determined sign, the intensity ratchets up. At your best, you'll be able to focus your mind with laser-like precision, making this a great time to finish a writing project, put the finishing touches on a resume or bring up a topic that's been hard to talk about. Just watch out for a tendency to obsess: If you find your mind looping around the same theme too many times, hop off that merry-go-round and go get some cotton candy! Even great minds need a break, right? October 22: Full Moon in Aries On September 23, we experienced a full Moon in the first degree of Aries. This month, a second full Moon takes place in Aries, but in the last degree. One thing is for sure with this feisty warrior sign -- expect to feel fired-up! Your challenge will be to assert yourself in a way that makes you proud. At its best, Aries is courageous and pioneering. You will be able to move mountains if you use the bold energy of this sign and the passion of the full Moon to advance yourself while advocating for others. Enjoy the Sun's transit through Libra! ** Astrolesson: When Venus Turns Retrograde Venus is the planet that rules how we love, appreciate and value people. On a more mundane level, she rules how we appraise, access and value objects or experiences -- whether it's a delicious dinner, a new car or something else. The people and things we appreciate says something about how we enjoy life, so Venus certainly has something to say about how we like to have a good time! When Venus turns retrograde, these objects, people and experiences come up for review. Venus turns retrograde once every 542 days, or about every year-and-a-half. This year, Venus retrogrades in passionate Scorpio on October 8; she then returns to Libra, where she turns direct on November 18. All retrograde periods signal a time to travel to the past; this is so you can more thoroughly integrate old experiences into your review. This review can be invaluable to the continued growth of your relationships. It can also help you take care of unfinished business while allowing you to gain a deeper perspective on your current relationships. When you think about it, who couldn't use a solid review of their relationships? This retrograde marks a time when many people reach out to others from their past -- so plan to hear from lovers and friends you haven't thought about in a while! Although some people tend to withdraw affection during Venus retrograde periods, this stepping back allows Neptune -- the planet of spiritual love, and Venus's higher octave -- to step forward. Sometimes we need to re-assess the state of our relationships to see if we are heart-connected. If this period feels unsettling to you, ask yourself if your relationships are in line with your ideals, inner values and what you wish to receive. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Subject: **All about Virgo + Starcast & Astrolesson
Author: Anonymous [ Edit | View ] |
Date Posted: 00:02:35 09/06/10 Mon ** All About Virgo Virgo has been labeled as being picky and critical for far too long -- and here's where it ends! There's no doubt that this sign is certainly into details, but that doesn't mean these idealistic, humble folks don't care about others. In fact, they care so much about helping everyone look, sound and be their best that they're willing to risk coming off as 'picky' or 'critical' to do it -- quite a generous sacrifice, indeed. Truth be told, Virgo is singularly adept at sacrifice, as well as making lemonade out of lemons. These tender-hearted individuals are always willing to help, and their sharp focus allows them to take charge of even the toughest situation. So if you're a Virgo yourself, you know that with your keen eye for grasping particulars, it's quite natural to spot flaws in others -- hence that reputation for being nitpicky. But if it weren't for Virgo, the rest of us would miss the trees for the forest. We all need troubleshooters in our lives -- people who can identify potential problems in a situation before they develop -- and that's definitely Virgo. So if you're one of the other 11 Sun signs, find one of these meticulous folks so you can enjoy a lesson in careful observation, then tell them that their ability to appreciate minutiae really is precious. When it comes to relationships, Virgo is as devoted as a sign can possibly be. These sincere souls are willing to do whatever it takes, whenever it's needed, to let their beloveds know just how dear they are. And if you're close to a Virgo, you can attest to the fact that they're the proud bearer of one of the keenest wits in the entire zodiac, thanks to that sharp eye and those quick, accurate comments. As a partner, this sign -- like all the earth signs -- is as faithful as they come. After all, being earthy means that these folks have been given the gift of fully appreciating the sense of touch and the importance of closeness. So don't hesitate to reach out and touch a Virgo you know and love -- and let them know how valuable they are to you! ** Your Starcast for August 22 - September 21 August 22: The Sun enters Virgo It's time to get serious as the Sun enters Virgo, a sign that is earthy yet quite idealistic. Get a sense of your schedules and routines so you can assess how to streamline your days to heighten efficiency. Just be sure to not overanalyze! This is the time to make significant headway with your dreams and ambitions. Whether you're preparing to go back to school or planning a new venture, use the great work ethic of the Sun's transit through this sign, which lasts until September 22. August 24: Full Moon in Pisces Whenever a full Moon falls in the most sensitive sign of the zodiac, it's important to keep a watch on your emotions and not overreact to anything! Neptune's placement next to the Moon shows that things are not always what they seem. So, let the dust settle before you make any long-term decisions. With the Sun and Moon in the axis of physical and spiritual health (Pisces/Virgo), expect to hear about situations regarding health issues. Food and water purity, health reform and even the state of our planet may come up for discussion. This is a great time to make changes that will help you feel healthier, happier and more emotionally content. Importantly, find some time to spend alone and slow down! Connect with your spiritual self: Watch a sunset, meditate or listen to a beautiful piece of music. August 25: The Sun trines Pluto Let go of doubts and take a leap of faith, as people in positions of power recognize your hard work and do what they can to help you achieve your goals. This is a time to transform your life and strip away ideas, beliefs and maybe even people who do not connect with the person you are today. Ask yourself: What can I change so I can live more authentically? No mickey-mousing around with the superficial stuff! You'll get the boost you need with this powerful aspect. September 3: Mercury conjuncts the Sun Your mind is working overtime as retrograde Mercury loops back to this conjunction with the Sun in industrious Virgo! This is an excellent time to gather information and investigate various options. An important individual has advice for you or can direct you to people who can help. Don't worry about delays -- your plans will get back on track after September 12, when Mercury turns direct. September 4: Venus trines Neptune In this dreamy trine, spiritual love (Neptune) and personal love (Venus) bring beautiful thoughts and inspiring conversations. Your ability to relate to people with sensitivity and compassion opens doors for new relationship possibilities, while bringing gentle energy into existing relationships. If you're artistically inclined, your creativity is enhanced. If you can't even draw a decent stick figure, this is a lovely time to visit an art museum. September 8: New Moon in Virgo With Mercury retrograde and a world that seems to keep shifting and changing, how do you get a handle on your schedule and make clear, congruent decisions? A new Moon in Virgo -- a sign that's practical yet idealistic -- gives you plenty of assistance and energy to accomplish something inspiring. All new Moons mark a new beginning and cycle, so this is a good time to hone in on what you want to achieve. As you think of a project, dream or goal you want to infuse with this lunar energy, allow it to help you organize and implement those things most important to you. September 8: Venus enters Scorpio Whomever invented the term 'soul mate' must have had Venus in Scorpio! There are few signs as passionate as this one, and when the planet of love transits through this intense sign, you'll feel like nothing less than a profound connection will do. It's time to leave the commitment-phobic people behind. If you are single and want to meet the love of your life, attend an event whose cause you feel strongly about. Married or in a serious relationship? Do something together you've never done before and watch the sparks re-ignite! September 8: Jupiter re-enters Pisces Last June 6, Jupiter left Pisces, the last sign of the zodiac, and entered the first sign, Aries. But now, as retrograde Jupiter heads back into this sensitive water sign, you get an opportunity to take care of unfinished business and wrap up a few loose ends. Jupiter brings its expansive energy to the sign of the dreamer, and now it becomes extra important to escape from the mundane world to give more time and attention to your inner or spiritual life. Check where this big planet currently appears in your birth chart for more information. September 12: Mercury turns direct At last, Mercury ends its retrograde period! Communication now becomes clearer and you find it easier to make a decision. For the last three weeks since Mercury turned retrograde in its own sign, Virgo, on August 20, you have been reworking the same themes and analyzing the same data. Now it's time to leave that hamster wheel behind and put everything you've learned into practice. So, sign those contracts, send out your resume and pick up the phone. It's time to communicate all those great ideas! September 13: Pluto turns direct When Pluto turned retrograde in ambitious Capricorn last April 6, it was time for a thorough review of how and where you've been building your power base. Hopefully you have let go of what hasn't been working so you can build a solid foundation. That review and the changes you have made helps as you now create a practical plan for your future. Whether you are seeking a new job, looking to relocate or searching for the man or woman of your dreams, keep in mind that how you go about getting what you want is just as important as the goal itself. Make sure you act in a way that makes you proud! September 14: Mars enters Scorpio What do you feel most passionate about? Is it the environment, a person or a cause? Mars joins Venus in determined Scorpio, where this feisty planet will remain until October 27. Nothing beats this placement for sheer determination, making this an excellent time to go all-out in pursuit of your goals. If you have a project you've been wanting to dig into, you'll be able to get more done now than you have in a while. Use this powerful energy to take you wherever you want to go! September 18: Jupiter conjuncts Uranus Last June, these two planets came together in a conjunction in bold, action-oriented Aries. Both Jupiter and Uranus are in retrograde now and have returned to imaginative Pisces, where they come together once again. Every action is preceded by an idea, feeling, desire or an imagining of what you want. Use this powerful and innovative combination to further your ambitions. September 21: The Sun opposes Jupiter and Uranus Jupiter and Uranus formed a conjunction last week in inspiring Pisces. Now the Sun, traveling through hard-working Virgo, opposes both of these planets. While you are tweaking your projects and plans, take stock of how far you have come over these last couple months. Yes, there is more to do (isn't there always?), but every good plan needs someone who believes in it -- as well as a competent person at the helm. Oppositions offer a chance to stand back and reflect. If you have a rebellious streak, it will want to express itself with this dynamic aspect! If you're more conservative in your nature, watch out for a person or event that jars you out of your everyday routine. If you know your chart, look at the houses this opposition straddles for more information. Change is inevitable -- so make it a good change! Enjoy the Sun's transit through Virgo ** Astrolesson: How to Benefit from Transiting Uranus Independent, change-loving Uranus has been active lately! Whether this planet is breaking down the boundaries of rule-making Saturn or expanding its reach with the recent conjunctions with Jupiter, you can't have missed this eccentric planet's call for change! Transit Uranus is traveling through a house in your birth chart. This house is an area of your life where you need to be extra-flexible, and if you can embrace and work with Uranus's call for change, you'll be miles ahead of everyone else. In the fourth house, your house and family are highlighted. You may need to move, or you may have family members leaving or returning home. One thing is for sure: This is not a boring area of your life! If Uranus is transiting your seventh house, then it's time to breathe some fresh air into your most important relationships. Take this opportunity to be creative. What can you do to spice up your partnerships? Don't be content with a safe, boring routine; instead, initiate some fun changes! If Uranus is in your first house, it's time for a radically new approach to life. Shed old personality characteristics that are simply habits from the past. A makeover or a declaration of the new fabulous you will bring a fresh -- and much-needed -- new beginning! The main point of a Uranus transit is to shake you out of tired, old ruts. When you think about it, is your life so perfect that it couldn't use a metaphorical fresh coat of paint? With any Uranus transit, embrace change. You'll be so glad you did! Subject: **All about Leo + Starcast & Astrolesson
Author: Anonymous [ Edit | View ] |
Date Posted: 12:32:15 07/23/10 Fri ** All About Leo Leo proudly bears the symbol of the lion, something that didn't happen by accident. It's an association brought about by this sign's reputation for being brave, strong and fearless. Since the lion is the king of the jungle, he also endows his signature sign with the qualities of a natural ruler. Leos can pull the mantle of authority over their shoulders at a moment's notice and start barking out orders -- benevolently, of course -- just as quickly. To pull it all off, certain qualities are a must: charisma, to start with, along with the ability to enchant and enthrall the masses. Like those of many popular leaders, Leos' followers often seem to simply fall in love with them! Bringing all those qualities into a relationship means several things: First off, the Lion's partner can't help but feel honored and, at times, a bit overwhelmed by the task of measuring up. If you're a Leo yourself, you'll of course do your best to let your chosen partner know that nothing is too good for them. You'll put everything you have into showing that lucky soul they not only deserve you, but are also worthy of anything; the best of everything is all that will do. Luckily for the rest of us, Leos automatically endow their loved ones with a sense of worth that not too many others can match. They also carry themselves with regal demeanor, so whomever happens to be on their arm can't help but also feel royal. There's a humble side to Leo, however -- again, only when it comes to the ones the Lion loves. This kingly sign will go out of its way to make anything happen for cherished friends and family, whenever it's humanly possible. But don't fear, Leos: While it's not your ultimate goal, this unparalleled devotion ensures that you'll receive the same in return, with just as much emotional extravagance. Speaking of extravagance, Leos are famous for that as well! Not only that, but Leos are also known to be lavish, theatrical and, at times, a tad on the melodramatic side (even in the company of those they've just met!). Keeping the latter qualities in check is their greatest challenge, and what keeps them honest and reputable. So, to all you Lions out there, find a way to strut your stuff on a stage that deserves your presence -- and in a way that preserves your dignity -- and you'll do the other residents of your jungle proud! ** Your Starcast for July 22 - August 22 July 22: The Sun enters Leo Do you orbit around somebody or something else? Or are you at the center of your own solar system? As the Sun enters its own sign, it's time for you to shine as brightly as it does! Increase your self-confidence by investing in fun projects that show off your talents. Most of all, be sure during this transit to embody the three top Leo qualities: self-respect, creativity and strength. Whether you exude the dignified presence of Leo Robert Redford or the more showy style of Madonna, now is the time to stop hiding in the wings and step into your own personal spotlight. July 23: Jupiter turns retrograde This is the first time Jupiter turns retrograde since entering Aries on June 6; by June 8, this expansive planet joined independent Uranus in this pioneering sign, starting a brand new cycle in your life. Now, as Jupiter turns retrograde, take a step back and look around. What are you growing, expanding and seeking? What do you want to make bigger and better? Where are you going, and with whom and why? Momentum is halted or slowed during this retrograde period that will last until November 18. Don't worry about plans and projects that are delayed. This is an important cycle where, in the end, whatever was held back will turn out to be a blessing in disguise. In general, this is a time of cutting back and curtailing excesses. Look at the house where Jupiter is transiting in your own chart to see how you can benefit from this review. July 24: Jupiter squares Pluto When retrograde Jupiter makes this challenging contact to retrograde Pluto, your beliefs, worldview and plans for the future are tested. Do they hold up when examined? How do you make them work with this square? It's all totally doable, but it's going to take some thought, attention and calmness. Just make sure you don't get into a shouting match or try to force your beliefs on others. We've all seen what that does! Examine where these two planets are in your own chart to get clues about how you can put your beliefs into practice. July 25: Full Moon in Aquarius The full Moon is associated with heightened emotions even when in Aquarius, an air sign known for detachment. This full Moon marks the culmination of what you initially set in motion at the new Moon solar eclipse in Cancer on July 11. With such a sensitive water sign, you were focused at that time on what you wanted to nurture and protect; now you want to bring those ideas and plans into the wider world. An Aquarius Moon activates your desire to be part of something bigger, whether it's your local community or getting involved in a global initiative. Air signs love to communicate, so socialize and catch up with your friends, or join an organization with a cause close to your heart. This is also the Moon that emphasizes the need to be independent, unique and free. The goal here is to connect with others while also being your own original self. In the days following the full Moon -- but before the next new Moon -- get a plan together to make changes that will make you feel more comfortable. July 26: Saturn opposes Uranus Saturn has been opposing Uranus since November 2008 (in this series). Now these two planets connect again, this time in Aries and Libra, highlighting the change (Uranus) vs. experience (Saturn) mantra. Or, some might say, it's time to overturn the old ways! Saturn represents what you're building and how you're structuring your life, while independent Uranus challenges traditions and the status quo. Maintaining a healthy balance between your responsibilities and your desire to make changes in your life is the task of this opposition. If you've been resisting the message for change, you'll certainly be reminded of its importance now. On the other hand, if you've been super-rebellious and neglecting your responsibilities, you'll now receive an important message about accountability. Either way, the challenge is to build upon your experiences while also being open to change. July 27: Mercury enters Virgo Are you ready to improve your life? Mercury is quite at home in its own sign, making this a fertile, fruitful transit when you will be able to get a lot done. Virgo is a sign known for high standards, and even a strong dose of perfectionism. Your mind needs something to do with this transit, so if you've been waiting to capitalize on your creative ideas, the wait is over! Your mind hasn't been this sharp since, well, last year, when Mercury was in Virgo. Now is the time to write that proposal, get the finishing touches on your film project done, or create the perfect itinerary for your family vacation. July 29: Mars enters Libra Do you know how to compromise? Or do you fight for what you think is right and fair? It's always a bit of an oxymoron when this warrior planet enters fair-minded, relationship-oriented Libra. However, this is the time to invest in your important relationships and form beneficial alliances. There are a few complications this year, due to the red planet's immediate contact with the Saturn-Uranus opposition. Nevertheless, put time and energy into your relationships. For you married or seriously hooked-up folks, a trip to the counselor may help you sort out old issues so you can clear the air and get unfinished business behind you. If you're single and have been thinking you'd like to be involved with someone, now is the time to either try Internet dating, ask your best friend to introduce you to someone, or even go out on a blind date. Now if only there were therapists for countries! July 30: Mars opposes Uranus Surprising actions -- including some that stir up opposition -- can be a part of this time. Make sure what you're doing is worth taking a stand over. Otherwise, you'll just come across as a rebel without a cause. July 31: Mars conjuncts Saturn Saturn disciplines, slows down or stops Mars in its tracks, and for those who don't like anybody weighing in on their actions, this can be a difficult transit. Whether you're a person who needs to act more responsibly, or a dog that needs a calm, assertive owner, you are held to a high standard. This is a great aspect in which to dig in, roll up your shirt sleeves and get something done. If you're the impatient type, you will be tested. The rest of you will get more done now than you have all year! Keywords are responsibility and accountability -- two characteristics the world could use a little more of these days! August 3: Jupiter square Pluto On July 24, Jupiter squared Pluto just before turning retrograde. This expansive planet now repeats this contact and you will be asked once again to re-evaluate your world view and future plans. This aspect is part of a larger ongoing aspect pattern that involves Saturn (the builder) and Uranus (the changer). You will need to take into account prevailing social and economic policies. Help yourself by taking the time you need to make informed, smart choices. August 3: Mars opposite Jupiter and square Pluto This dynamic aspect pattern heats up the current contentious social and political climates. Sometimes a few bad apples can upset the apple cart. Watch out for people who are unable to contain their aggression and unwilling to compromise or work with others. If you have plans to implement or a project you want to get off the ground, find another time. It seems that people are just not getting along right now. August 6: Venus enters Libra Ordinarily this relationship planet in peacemaking Libra would bring lots of Kumbaya energy. After all, Venus loves nothing better than being in her own sign! But in the midst of several heated exchanges, she has a hard time making her voice heard. However, take advantage of this period that will last until September 8 to connect with those you love and cherish. Invite a good friend or sweetheart out to dinner or the movies, or for a walk in the park. Keep in mind that Venus receives plenty of difficult aspects! If conflicts arise, do what you can to mend fences. August 7: Venus opposite Uranus August 8: Venus conjunct Saturn Should you stay or should you go? As Venus connects with the ongoing Saturn-Uranus opposition, you are confronted with the need to make serious changes in your important relationships -- both business and personal. This is a time to assess: Some of your relationships will benefit from a more serious commitment, while you may need to cut others loose. August 9: Venus opposite Jupiter and square Pluto Last week, Mars in Libra made these same aspects, which added to an already intense climate. Now you are confronted in your closest relationships, and something has got to give! Let go of people who do not support you, and invest in those who do. A lot of things will get shaken out this month, so don't try to hold on to no-win situations -- or no-good people. It's time to weigh the costs versus benefits of your important relationships. August 9: New Moon in Leo A new Moon in Leo emphasizes the need for confidence and the importance of leadership, while also bringing strong energy to help you. However, even though the usual Leo themes are in place, the difficult aspect patterns you have been reading about this month are the big players in this new Moon. A T-square -- Saturn, Venus and Mars in Libra, opposing Jupiter and Uranus in Aries, squaring Pluto in Capricorn -- show considerable challenges while describing a dilemma of some kind. What does this all mean for you? As you start something new, you will have a number of things to consider, so take your time! Look to the houses in your own chart where the bold Leo new beginnings are taking off, while keeping a close watch on how the world is responding to you. August 13: Uranus re-enters Pisces On May 27, this change-loving planet entered Aries for a brief stay, giving you a glimpse into themes you will be living with for the next seven years. Uranus, now retrograde since July 5, leaves bold Aries to return to the cosmic ocean of Pisces. It's time to tie some loose ends and take care of unfinished business! Pay attention to the house in your natal chart where this eccentric planet is transiting for more information. August 16: Jupiter opposes Saturn The planets of expansion (Jupiter) and contraction (Saturn) connect. This aspect represents social, economic and political shifts as opposing views dominate. Last May, these two planets opposed each other in Virgo and Pisces, the signs that represent physical and spiritual health. This time, Jupiter is in fiery Aries while Saturn is in relationship-oriented Libra. In this aspect, your enthusiastic plans to advance your own aims get schooled by Saturn and its demands for civility. Pay attention to your relationships and make sure you're being fair. Balancing your needs with those of others will get you the furthest now. August 20: Venus conjuncts Mars The planets of attraction and desire, Venus and Mars, have been traveling close to each other through Libra, making a series of difficult aspects. Now they finally catch up with one another and can share their experiences! If it weren't for all the outer-world and outer planet factors weighing in this month, they would be happily sharing their hearts, bodies and souls. But they're likely to be a bit battle-weary at this point and may just need a shoulder to lean on. August 20: Mercury turns retrograde Mercury entered conscientious Virgo on July 27, and hopefully since then you have been carefully assessing and analyzing your options. Now, as this communication planet turns retrograde, you return to old ideas and contacts. Instead of trying to push your ideas forward, be extra thoughtful about which are workable and which need to be let go. Research, revise and retouch anything that needs more attention so that you'll be ready to move your plans forward when Mercury ends its retrograde on September 12. August 21: Saturn squares Pluto You have been living with this planetary pairing since November 15, 2009, when these two planets made their first contact. On January 31, 2010, they connected once again. Now, this game-changing aspect reminds you to let go of any old ideas about the way the world is and how things should work. You have encountered plenty of changes over these months, and it should be clear to you by now that you can't return to former ways. Do yourself a favor and get on the bandwagon of change -- you will create something amazing! Examine carefully where this important aspect takes place in your own chart so you know where to build and invest, as well as what and where to let go. August 22: Sun enters Virgo It's time to get serious as the Sun enters Virgo, a sign that is earthy yet quite idealistic. Enjoy the Sun's transit through Leo! ** Astrolesson: How to Make the Most of Difficult Aspects With so many planets forming oppositions and squares this month, we thought this would be a good time to discuss strategies for dealing with them. Life goes through cycles. You've experienced times in your life when people stepped forward to help and it seemed as though you were blessed by the heavens. But you have also encountered difficult times when you were tested. Any square represents a challenge. A current example is transit Saturn in Libra (a sign very invested in fairness) square Pluto in ambitious Capricorn. This square resides somewhere in your chart. Where Saturn is positioned is where you're building your life; in other words, all those decisions about jobs, homes, relationships and family matters -- that's where Saturn is. The issues and people represented by this house capture most of your interest in ensuring people behave rightly and fairly. But Pluto in Capricorn is not concerned with fairness or social niceties; rather, it's interested in breaking down bankrupt systems, businesses and policies. Pluto is in the business of tearing down crumbling infrastructures. Ultimately these will be rebuilt, but not yet. How can you help yourself? Don't hold onto outmoded ways of living, and don't try to get everybody in agreement. Wherever transit Pluto is in your chart, let go of your ideas about the way your life should be working, and instead be as realistic as you can about what you can let go of. It's time to cultivate a new approach! Build where Saturn is located, and let go where Pluto is located. This isn't supposed to be easy. But you can help yourself by working with the planets rather than against them! [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |
