Subject: I think it was anger, desperation, and loneliness, all rolled into one. I'm quite torn about him now, and definitely disappointed. But (inside)

...by the same token, I also continue to feel bad for him. He couldn't talk to his wife, because she had her own problems, and he tried to be there for her, while nobody was there for him. Add to this the shock of having someone shot right in front of him, and I can understand that he's losing it. He seems immensely private in general; I mean, last week's epi was the first time, I think, that we saw him tell anybody about what *he* was feeling at Roxy's b'day party. When he said this line about how lonely he is, it just broke my heart because there seemed to be so much quiet desperation in him.

Usually, he asks how everybody else is, offers advice, but doesn't divulge anything about himself. Yes, he is friends with the four other wives, but let's face it, when it comes to deeper issues, there's Denise and Claudia Joy, there's Roxy and Pamela - who does Roland have? I think the hostage situation had a much graver effect on him than he allows himself to admit... He's a psychiatrist; he probably thinks he cand deal with it all on his own. And all things swirled together made him lose his grip on himself, despite knowing that what he was doing was wrong.
Now, I'm not trying to condone his behavior; he never ever should have let it get this far. But desire and sex are a powerful thing... The scenes were so desperate and raw that I think he has a lot of issues that he has kept bottled up...
I'll stop here now because I'm getting rambly and forgot my actual point, LOL! :-D

[> Roland seemed too be withdrawing somewhat from the other wives lately. He was jogging, then trying to join a basketball team all in an attempt to I think release pent-up emotions and energy. It would have been good for him to be around the other males with the basketball outlet. Some viewers are hoping this is just a fantasy in Roland's mind that we saw. The behaviour seemed so out of character for him.especially as Joan is working on her issues. It will be interesting to see if he comes clean with Joan about it. This act had nothing to do with love, it was something done on a pirmal level with a person he would probably never see again. A reporter to boot! I too was disappointed bigtime with Roland, -- Jubellant, 11:09:00 07/24/07 Tue [1]
