Well, another amazing episode of "Army Wives" last night... -- KH, 07:49:05 07/30/07 Mon [13]

First off, who didn't love Denise last night. I'm sorry folks, but Frank still doesn't rank very high on my list. While yes later on when he saw Denise in action he had a change of heart, he was a complete (pardon my french) prick to her most of the show. Man that guy is so self absorbed and selfish. Everything is all about him. I was so proud of Denise for the way she handled him and did what she wanted and needed to do for herself. She is just so coming into her own and explaining and expressing what she needs and wants. I have to say that after watching all the other husbands, Frank is about as warm and loving as a cold dead fish...LOL. I was glad that he told her he wasn't going to fight her and that she looked so different, vital and focused he almost didn't recognize her. And that he remembered why he fell in love with her, what would it have taken for him to get off his chair and take her in his arm and hug and hold her and tell her that stuff and maybe kiss her. I will give him credit for stating that Jeremy was gone because of him and he didn't want to be the reason Denise left too, but man that guy needs to lose the military protocol at home and treat his wife like the woman he loves and show her. They way he left the message on her cell phone just irked me. I'm thinking Denise isn't gettin any at home, only on Franks terms...LOL. Hence the comment "I'm speechless" at the Hump bar in the previews when Roxy's talking about her and Trevor not having sex for the first time one night. I laughed my butt off. Well I'm proud of Denise again for taking matters into her own hands and trying to spice things up and taking on a new look with her new attitude and is going to seduce Franky boy. I just hope he's receptive...LOL. "Go D Girl".

O.K. Lenore Baker, what a bi***. The actress who plays her does the character so well. I knew what Claudia Joy's secret was beforehand, but it was really played well and Kim did a wonderful jobs with the emotional scene at the end. And I have to say I'm starting to like Michael a little better each week. It's very obvious he adores his wife and he starting to smile a little more each week and show he takes care of his own. I like the way he has Joan's back.

Roland and Joan I have a feeling are in for a bumpy road ahead especially when he tells her. I think the patient in his office talking about his cheating wife gave Roland some food for thought and about coming clean. I see struggles ahead for these too, but maybe it'll go better than I think it will.

It was nice to see Pamela and Chase being a family unit for the 36 hours he was home. I think Chase is really realizing what he has in Pamela and is trying to be that guy she was talking about to Roxy whom she first married. Loved his plan of not going out, not letting anyone in and it just being the four of them until he had to leave again. And I also loved how he told Pamela she was his rock and he didn't want to lose her. I'm starting to like Chase better as time goes on as well.

Again just another amazing episode which went entirely too fast and look forward to next weeks episode. Can you belive there are only 4 left :o(.

- Great post KH, love your sense of humour LOL! I just noted only 4 eppys to go, on the CB board! I am so looking forward to CB's comedic side next week. I'm smiling just thinking about it. Frankie boy (love that moniker) is not going to know what hit him! D-girl really ran that code like a pro. Glad that Frank got to see it first hand. His wife's desire to pursue nursing should have been enough, but some people need visual aids. (A picture is worth a thousand words, and Frank got a doozie!) CJ again nailed the scene recalling that horrific event. I am so enjoying this series and love the fast pace of the stories. - Frank still has a long way to go to redeem himself in my eyes..After that 1st scene with Denise & Frank, where he TOLD Denise she'd better be with him at the dinner & it was all about him, I called my Twinny & we both said at the same time what an a** Frank is! Then we proceeded to stay on the phone for the rest of ep taking turns at the commercials complaining about Frank, LOL!! I was satisfied to see Frank at the end acknowledge Denise's desire to work, but would it of killed him to give his wife a hug or tell her how much he loves her & respects her? No he still made it about him, I don't want to be the reason you leave...Give Denise some credit! Quit treating your wife like a subordinate!   - Frank drives me nuts. When he ordered Denise to go with him, I literally choked on my ice tea. He tried the diplomatic approach but when that didn't work as he expected it to, and probably as it had worked in the past, he resorted to pulling rank. Well, I hate to break it to you Frank there is no rank in your house. I love how Denise didn't fight him or back down, she just simply stated that she was going to work, then kissed his cheek and left. He was shocked. I can definitely see where Jeremy gets his abusive tendencies. Frank doesn't hit Denise, but he tries to over power her just the same. I wonder what would have happened if Frank had dragged Denise out of the hospital like he said he was going to. That wouldn't have boded well for his career now would it. - I don't know enough about Frank's background to judge him, nor do I know what age he went into the army. In his case he may be just parroting what he has lived. When he knows better hopefully he will do better. I'd like to have faith in D-girl's choice of a life partner. Hopefully she saw in him what is not so apparent to us. I found it strange that except for Roland saying CJ's experience could have happened to anyone, Denise was the only other person that showed support. Roxie and Pamela looked dumbfounded. I can't believe they said nothing. At first Roland seemed to relate well with CJ when they were rocking Pamela's babies but lately Denise seems to be whom he is relating to.     - I'm not sure how background really makes that much of a difference. Either you're someone who respects your spouse or you're not. Look at Trevor. How many of us are exactly like our parents?       - Background does make a difference as to what we model or don't model our lives after. My Dad's parents moved to the States leaving two children behind and intending to send for them once they got settled. (My Dad was around 5) His parents went on to having 5 other children finances were tough and his father died young and they never got sent for. My Dad, left to fend for himself was not thrilled with the situation he was left in and felt he would have a better opportunity living and working with someone else. Needless to say certain family skills were lacking on his part. Growing up there were certain behaviours I wasn't thrilled about but knowing what was lacking in his formative years at least allowed me to be more forgiving.         Okay, someone's background can affect people, but they can choose whether it affects them positively or negatively. Frank chooses not to be respectful and an ass to his wife. Just like Jeremy chose to be an abuser regardless of his background. Background may make a difference, but it doesn't dictate your life. You're either strong enough to rise above adverse things, or wise enough to cling to the things that are good about your childhood, but every choice is yours.         Frank is delusional, he actually believes he knows what's best. He almost acts like a parental figure to Denise instead of an equal. I love how she handles him though. That kiss on the cheek was priceless. It said it all. I care about you but I am doing this. I definitely would not have been so cool headed!! Your statement about clinging to what was good about your childhood (that's if you had one). Some kids are forced into being responsible at an early age. If you have been used to fending for yourself and making your own decisions the idea of collaborating seems foreign to you.         Maybe Frank isn't such an a$$. Maybe he was just used to making all the decisions without question from day one. Maybe this was Denise's first time making waves and he's not used to that. On some level Denise must know that because she handled him with unheard of patience and calm. LOL! So just as Denise had to adjust to the changes within herself, Frank needs a minute to come up to speed and make the same adjustment to now having a real partner.         I would agree that Frank isn't such an ass if he hadn't ordered Denise to go with him and say she has to. And if he hadn't come to the hospital intending to drag her out of there. I can see him not liking it because it's not what he's used to, but even after she talked to him about it he didn't accept it because it wasn't what he wanted. That's being an ass. Frank and Denise don't really know each other very well. She seemed surprised when he said he was going to drag her out of the hospital. He seemed surprised that she was vital and active and good at being a nurse. He was right to realize that he would drive her away too if he didn't back off and let her be herself.         I think he may have switched to work mode and what he would do when orders weren't obeyed in the field. That might have been his only point of reference. He might have intended to drag her out in his head but in reality I doubt even in his state of mind he would have done it even if she had been on a coffee break.. well, okay maybe it would have gotten ugly had she been on a coffee break. Well I finally got to see the episode last night but the phone kept ringing you know how it is when you try to watch something everyone calls and any other time no one knows you are alive LOL! So I think I got caught up on the major events, Roland shame shame (caught me a bit off guard) and Pamela making a tough decision. Denise decided to give the nursing idea another shot. They did a nice job of showing everyone working together to help the lady who needed to move off post.
Didn't quite understand about Denise and Claudia Joy, seems Amanda asked to stay at Denise's house while her family went on vacation but I could not keep up with why CJ didn't want her to stay with Denise. CJ and Denise have patched things up or no not yet? I didn't really catch any scene that showed the two of them trying to patch their friendship did I miss something?

- There was a scene where CJ was packing some clothes & Denise was on the bed, they were chatting like they normally do, so the implication is that they patched things up. I didn't totally get CJ staying behind on the trip either. It was mentioned below how bratty Amanda was acting, & in the end she got her way. I realize she's 18, but she is living in her parents house & she should, at the very least, respect their house rules, & wishes. - When Amanda called her Mom from Denise's and CJ told her to have Denise call her in the morning, that is when they most likely had their heart to heart. CJ probably wasn't too thrilled that Denise had not given her the head's up that Amanda was there all day but after her lack of help with Jeremy I think she let it go. CJ stayed home because the more they go against Amanda's feelings for Jeremy the more she will probably cling to him. Also she might go and do something drastic like marry the guy.     - I think there is some cultural difference here that I find very interesting to point out... I seriously do not get what the big deal is about Amanda not wanting to go on vacation with her parents. The girl is 18 years old, after all; a grown-up, for all intents and purposes, as many were quick to point out when it came to Jeremy and his taking responsibility for what he did. When I was 18, and went on vaca with my parents, I was the odd ball out in my class; generally by latest 16, teenagers here have enough of family vacations and stay behind, and parents let them. No big deal, no hard feelings. Hey, by that age, I moved halfway around the world for a year to take care of other people's kids!       - I could make my own decisions at that age as well. If my parents went on a big vacation I'd probably go, but if I didn't want to I didn't have to. I could make my own plans. Now, I think the issue that CJ and Michael had about it was that she planned to go and see a kid that she admitted to seeing whom they knew was abusive. - Truth be known, for me, it has more to do with Amanda's 2-year-old "go 'way, me do it" attitude. She was very flippant, & had a bit of an "I dare you to do something" attitude when she pronounced to dad she wasn't going. More in the how she said what she said, than the fact she didn't want to go. I'm from the Deep South in the US, most kids (whether they were 2, 10, or 20) would never have finished the sentance b/c they were too busy picking themselves up off the floor, b/c you just don't speak to adults, especially your parents like she did.   - That's the problem IMHO with today's kids (teenagers included)....there is no respect, there are no manners, they are just incredibly rude & flippant. I'm not that old, but was taught to say Please & Thank You...to say Yes Sir or Ma'am or call my elders by Mr. or Mrs....nowadays kids call adults by their first names, & have no sense of respect. Amanda still lives under her parents roof, & like I was told, until I can pay my own way I abide by the rules that are set, & that includes family vacations.     - She should be more respectful to her parents, that's true. But I think it's unfair to "today's kids" to say that there is no respect. I have 20 nieces and nephews, literally. Many of them teens. And though they call adults by their first names and they don't have that wall of seperation where they say "Yes Sir or Ma'am", they are respectful. They says please and thank you, and are grateful for what they have. I couldn't live in a culture where adults pull rank simply because they were born in an earlier year.       - My younger sister was all for telling her older sister that she was 18 and could do what she wanted. I was more the type to think if you want to be treated like an adult, act like one. Lay out a good argument on why you should or shouldn't have to do soomething and most parents are reasonable to have a change of heart to a well thought out dialogue. I know, not all teenagers have that maturity but one thing that gets my goat is disrepectfulness or rudeness. I know it's just a name and have adjusted to this first name stuff LOL, but I truly believe it makes a difference in attitude.         That's exactly how I was as a kid. I wasn't combative, I just laid my case out to my parents if I felt the need. So they wouldn't have to worry about me and what I was doing. That's probably why I got to do whatever I wanted. I don't like rudeness or disrespect. I think Amanda needed to check her tone, even if she didn't change her words. And I personally like the first name thing, and the other things that have developed that bring teens closer to the adults that are educating or parenting them. So many teens believe that no one understands or is on their side, if they feel a comraderie with someone who is older and wiser they'll feel safer and will most likely be more receptive to guidance.         We probably won't agree on the name thing but in reality I think it has nothing to do with the name but is more about how that person relates to you. As Roxy said to her Mom I have friends. Speaking about names we used to have to address each other at work by Miss, Mr. or Mrs over the PA system and would to do it with a tongue in cheek sort of attitude. Frank made a comment about seeing in the new Denise the person he fell in love with. Much has been said about Frank's treatment of Denise but somewhere along the line she lost that which he fell in love with and became the person whom we first met on AW. Some people lose themselves when in a relationship and become an extension of their significant other. I wonder how much of this was Frank's doing? Could it be that Denise herself decided to give up her career and become Mrs. Frank Sherwood the perfect wife and mother? - Didn't she tell Jeremy she quit nursing to marry Frank? And it could be possible they had to move to a new duty station shortly after getting married, so she then focused her enegies on being a wife & later a mom. - i know many nurses who do as Denise did. Quit their career to become wife and Mom. now she wants to do something for herself. Our military creates many strong male leaders They are Alpha, strong, the kind who are followed into battle. My son included. This take charge personality does not stop when they get home from work. They need a strong woman to help them and at times reign them in. By the previews of next week it looks like Frank is going to see more of Denise's assertiveness. in a sexy way. . I thought in the preview last week that Michael said, "It was 18 years ago, you were just a kid", and yet in the episode he says, "It was 20 years ago..." Did anyone else hear that? I wonder if they changed the script because it fits the timeline better. It couldn't have been 18 years ago because Amanda was born around that time.

Had an interesting conversation with some friends awhile back on this very topic and was surprised by the responses. The question was if your friend knew thst your husband was cheating on you would you want to know? Most said NO! In Roland's case if this was a 1 time isolated incident (not that I am condoning his behaviour) would that give at least some hope to this marriage surviving vs. a long time love affair? How does this impact trust issues if Joan decides to stay in the army and gets redeployed? Is it a 1 strike and you are out scenario? What if Joan gives up her career to work on having a family only to find out later that Roland did this?

- For me, a lot would have to do with the circumstances and how repentent he was for having done so. My uncle cheated on my aunt eons ago, back when my cousins were young. Granted that was a long time ago, in a different era, but they worked through the reasons for the affair and the aftermath to have a long-standing marriage and loving relationship. I'd almost prefer a long-term affair than a one-night stand if that one-night stand was just about sex, because how can you trust that the "urge" won't hit him again? - For me one strike and you're out as well. One time is inexcusable and a long term affair is even worse because there's something more there. If you've got problems or something is bothering you you talk it out and ask for what you want. There is no excuse for cheating as mentioned above there is no more honor or trust in my mind. Hey Theresa-didnt want you to think that I was dissing you by not responding- honestly what I think is happening is the father is around more from work and his wife is working more so that she doesn't have to stay home w. the son. He is 20 years old and who knows what he is going to do -he s a very angry kid. My student doesn't like to talk about him. It is hard for me to get involved b/c I just now found out- unfortunately I am leaving my old school and heading to a new school. But before I leave to go and work at my new school, I will be talking to our social services at school that can help families in need of assistance. I will let you know what happens!

- No worries, and thanks for the response. You know what I'd do? Call the police. If there's a suspicion of domestic violence of any kind they'll investigate. At least they will in my town. Policies may be different in different towns. This man is abusive, I don't care if he is only 20 years old. He needs help and discipline. Amazing that Marilyn expects others to keep her little secret but continues to spread gossip about others. Glad to see that in spite of their differences that Amanda and Michael still were able to express their love for each other. I was hoping that more would be explained about Amanda's comments made to her father last week. I wonder if Frank is aware of Denise's return to nursing school yet. - In some respects, yes, I think she is okay with it. It's kinda like he's gone off to school, & the parent in her is letting go of her grown son. - Marilyn I am sorry is a bit%$ with a capital B... holier than thou... anyway I think Frank does know about Denise wanting to go back... as for Amanda and Michael-he really is a good dad just like Frank-they both want to see their kids succeed in life... I think Denise is ok but at the same time scared for her son. Speaking of Denise I was kinda worried for a sec w. everything that happened b/w her and CJ about Amanda going to Denise and not her mom-was scared CJ would be jealous. - I don't think Frank is aware of it and when he finds out he's not supportive. She goes against his wished going back to nursing. Yes, I think Denise is as o.k. as she can be. Jeremy is 18 years old and old enough to make decisions about his life and I think she realized this at the gazebo when she talked with him. Jeremy had made his decision and Denise's look and nod of understanding stated this. Her comment this past week to Claudia Joy about "we turned out o.k. and all we can do is hope our kids will too" speaks volumes and states how it's out of there hands and they have to let them find their own way and be there if they need you. I was so angry with Roland. He was one of my favorites, but now he's not. The comment he made right before we saw the "roll in the hay" proves that he knew full well what he was doing. Yes he's been through a lot, but so have so many other people and they're able to keep it in their pants. And think back to that scene for a minute. He seriously gave it to that woman. How many positions did they do before it was over? None of it was loving, none of it was out of pure lonliness. He had something to prove. Agression to get out. Was he trying to hurt Joan? Was he's just horny? Is that how he usually is in bed? WHOA on all counts.

- Roland seemed too be withdrawing somewhat from the other wives lately. He was jogging, then trying to join a basketball team all in an attempt to I think release pent-up emotions and energy. It would have been good for him to be around the other males with the basketball outlet. Some viewers are hoping this is just a fantasy in Roland's mind that we saw. I laughed out loud and could so relate back to the days when my kids were small as well as all the stories of my friends and their spouses. That was just too funny and so true...LOL.

I am MUCHO disappointed in Roland...I thought he was "better" than that, to succumb to the "other" head instead of his actual brain. I was so hoping it wasn't going to happen, and I still like Roland, but right now I do think a lot less of him. Of course he's probably going through so much stuff that none of us can comprehend, but still....I thought for sure he was going to resist...sigh...

I felt soooo sorry for Denise! That first scene where she's in class with the others and then when they get up to go into training, Denise just has that lost look, the the world has passed her by and she doesn't belong. I was glad to see at the end she was dressed in her scrubs, and basically jumped in. Good for her!

I had to LOL at the one scene where Claudia was packing and Denise came into the bedroom...that outfit was the one Catherine was wearing when she went to Dover to do the "Gentleman Start your Engines" NASCAR race in early June...I wonder if she was filming this ep and basically just hopped a plane and then went right back LMAO! It appears there are no hard feelings between Denise and Claudia Joy, and loved the fact that they both had some laughter. Good to see...

I felt bad that all Michael wanted was for his family to go on vacation together, but in the end Claudia stayed behind with Amanda. I do think Amanda is acting like a spoiled brat, and one day she will look back with regret I believe for not spending time with her family. I know since my Dad died, I look back at all the lost family times....

Another good ep, the previews looked fantastic, but this ep left me feeling disappointed, because of how Roland acted.

Loved Denise throwing stuff out of her closet looking for just the right thing to wear and her fascial expression in the bathroom was too funny. Denise looked overwhelmed playing catch up in the nursing field, and I'm getting the feeling Denise isn't a Techy Guru like Catherine is...LOL. I'm glad to see that Denise and Claudia Joy worked things out and are back on track, they have such a wonderful friendship. Just all around good scenes, good communication and loved Denise getting that look of determination on her face and marching through those double doors. Oh my word Roland...I had a feeling it was him. I'm not sure I've processed that one yet and how that's going to bode for his and Joans relationship, we'll just have to wait and see. - I agree KH. This was another terrific episode and loved the lighthearted comedic scene for Denise in the beginning. CB does comedy so well, I wish she would get the chance to do it more. - Great post about CB and her comedic talents. I think Denise will be fine on the technological level though. It's not like she is unfamiliar with the computer, being that she has a webcam and converses with Frank on one. I've been pretty hard on Jeremy for his abuse towards Denise. - There is never only one person to blame for a messed up kid. There's also no single incident to blame. We are all the sum of our experiences, it's how we react to those experiences that matters. Yes they should have asked him what he wanted more instead of directing the course of his life for him. Yes they should have seen his frustration, but how many of us had incredibly frustrating circumstances in our lives? And how many of us kicked someone's teeth in because of it? I dont know yall... maybe I am just taking the adults side on this one... Denise was hurt repeatedly by her son--he taunted her by saying you wont tell... what do yall think might have happened if Frank would have been ok and nothing would have happened to his chopper? We know that Jeremy was out w. Amanda and her sister to see a movie-- even though Denise told Jeremy (RIGHTLY SO) that she would have him arrested if he didnt stop, would Jeremy have taken Denise's threats seriously? The question I want the answer to is would Jeremy have stopped abusing his mom b/c he knew that word had gotten out and that he would look like a creep in Amanda's eyes? Meaning would he have done it because he respects and love his mom? Would he have stopped at all or did he feel like a big man and say screw my mom and dad- Jubes I agree w. what you said on here on one post below... I think Jeremy was hitting his mom to get back at his dad. He knew his dad loves his mom more than life so what better way to hurt his dad? Hurt his mom. - I think it's looking too deep to say he did it to get back at his dad. When people are in a rage and they just snap, they don't plot and plan. Every time he hit his mother he was frustrated and couldn't hold his anger back. He can't stand the way his father controls him, and by extension gets incredibly angry when he feels like no one is listening and people are taking his father's side. His mother has always taken his father's side, not realizing that he doesn't want to be anything like his father. So he gets angry and smacks her.         I wouldn't want to meet him in a dark alley either when he's angry and out of control. His instincts are primal without plotting. He flies off the handle with little regard and no control. There's an interesting concern about the Sherwoods posted by Nova on Katherine Fugate's message board in the Ask Katherine section. Go check it out and another poster's response. It's food for thought about the whole family dynamics. One point raised, was when Denise flinched as Frank went to go past her. We know he would never hit his wife but being abused by her son has now caused her to react this way with Frank.. If you choose to read it, it would be nice to discuss your feedbacl here. Yes, Jeremey needed help, but he had yet to suffer any consequence for the abuse until his father gave him the boot! Many seem to sympathize with Jeremy which is fine but what I haven't heard is an alternate punishment by those opposed to Frank's choice of action. - I didn't have time to read the article yet, but I "didn't" see Denise flinch at all with Frank. I know everyone sees something different, but it just "wasn't" there in my eyes. Denise was very forthright and upstanding and told Frank exactly what she needed and wanted without backing down. When she started moving all of Jeremy's things back into the house that Frank threw out, she picked up the first box and marched past him and gave him a look to say, "Don't even think about trying to stop me." - Read it & it is most interesting. Maybe a better response on Frank's part would have been to tell Jeremy that he wanted him out of the house by the time he got back when Frank walked out after Jeremy told him. That would have allowed Denise & Jeremy time to find him a place to stay. I believe Michael Holden let Jeremy down in the area too, he said he would help him after he told his dad, but didn't. Michael could have told him that one way to earn his trust was to seek help, & then help him find a place to get that help. They didn't make me change my mind though about Frank, but I believe that disapproving of his behaviour doesn't mean supporting Jeremy! I totally agree with those who think that hitting his mom is a very serious offense and that he deserves a major punishment. He has anger management issues that need to be addressed though not only by a punishment but by counseling also. Jeremy said in this last episode (which I know you haven't seen yet) that he couldn't show his face around there with everyone knowing what he did and that there was nothing left for him there. Jeremy is embarassed about what he did and can't face anyone and for him to just call home is also touchy with his father there to answer the phone at anytime. It's not an easy situation. There are many ways to channel one's anger, that Jeremy chose abuse is appalling to me. I hate the silent treatment Frank is giving Denise as it solves nothing. Communication is the key. I was left with the same feeling I had when the PTSD soldier (forgot his name) was shot (!) just as Roland was making headway in resolving the situation quietly.         I think to a certain extent Jeremy was treating his mother as father did...not from the physical abuse standpoint, but from the standpoint that she's really a NONEITY & she's just a woman so who cares what her opinions are.   - I think Frank was operating from what he knew, perhaps his own experiences. Now he realizes that that approach has failed and he has no alternative. The dynamics in his home have changed, his son is unrecognizable, his wife is challenging him, it's like he's stepped into foreign world. He and Denise have to have a serious discussion. After seeing CB this week all I can say is WOW! Her quiet strength and determination really got to me. She is right to have put Jeremy's room back together. The guy is going through major turmoil and to discover any trace of his existence had been wiped away would have pushed him even further into his self-destructive abyss. Hitting his Mom had nothing to do with her IMHO. It all has to do with getting back at his father and what better way than to hurt what he loves most. Hitting his Mom once though totally wrong, I could have afforded him a lapse in judgement break. However, the funny, kind etc child that Amanda was describing would not have been able to repeat the abuse time and time again. That person would have been so humiliated, remorseful and guilt-ridden that he would have been bending over backwards right after to atone for having hit her. He would not have continued the abuse. If he had been such a great kid wouldn't this polar opposite behaviour signal a major crisis in the kid's life that the family would have immediately addressed? I really felt for Denise on many fronts this week. She got it from all angles, her son, her husband and her best friend. Now for Amanda what exactly crossed her mind after hearing this guy beat up on his Mother. Oh I must sleep with this guy? I get that she loves him but to go the distance with him right after learning this to me is so bizarre. He is in no imminent danger, it's not like they won't see each other again. It's boot camp.         That's all true, but I find it interesting that the children of the people who fight for our freedoms live under a system where they are less free than other children. What a petty nitpicky environment they have on Army Wives where rumors can ruin promotion chances and your child participating in a peaceful demonstration can effect your career. It's not that way in the civilian world. My father is head of a huge department in a hospital, if I protested anything as a teen his boss probably would never hear about it or care one way or another. Amanda should respect her parents, but not at the peril of her own freedom if she's not doing anything immoral or illegal. No good parent would ask that of her. Denise has been straight laced and Claudia Joy more the experimenter. The Holden household appeared to have a more relaxed atmosphere than the Sherwoods but the outcome is the same. - I'm sure Jeremy had friends, at the movie a young guy his age came up to him and told him about his Dad. We just aren't going to see it because it's not the focus of the show. Jeremy probably didn't feel he could go to his guy friends and talk about what he did to his mother, he never even told Amanda until he was leaving.   - As for Jeremy's room, there is absolutely nothing wrong with his room or the colors. You should see some of the colors of the rooms of the young middle schoolers and teenagers of my friends. Some rooms are dark navy blue, dark gray, black etc. along with unsual graphics and heavy metal rock groups sporting tatoos, lights on the wall etc. Jeremy's room is a typical male teenagers room of today.     - As I have yet to see last week's eppy I was commenting on the view I got when Frank was opening up drawers to pack Jeremy's bags. Maybe my viewpoint will change when I get to see more of his room from the episode when Frank starts to clear out his room altogether.       - I liked his room. Really intense and interesting, but even if I didn't like it, I'd let him have it as he wanted it. There was nothing in there that was lewd, destructive or immoral. It was just a color scheme. I dictate things to my kids if I think they need to be protected, but beyond that they are free to express their personalities as they choose. I'm actually surprised by Jeremy's room because it does look like he was allowed to choose his own colors and decor, and didn't have to conform to Frank's unreasonably rigid standards. As for sticking up for Frank, I'm sure he's a good hearted person, who has no idea how to be a part of a family because he's used to running the show. Denise made her choice with the information that she had. This is a totally new situation, she wouldn't know this side of him if he never had to show it.         Perfectly true Theresa. I think it still boils down to CJ's speech to Roland about growth but not necessarily together. I'm sure hanging around Roxy and Pamela, two tell it like it is women and damn the consequences, is rubbing off on Denise. CJ is a wise and solid friend but I think Roxy and Pamela would be the type to push Denise out of her comfort zone. I must not forget Roland who is encouraging her to complete her nursing.         Well said on all accounts Theresa, I couldn't have explained it any better. One example I can give is my nephew (I have 2 girls) who is 13, his room is a very dark green which could almost pass for black, with yellow lights, heavy metal posters and you should see his my space sight, it's also dark and heavy metal. My brother also bought him black nail polish the other day (which I can't say that I would do...LOL), but he explains that this is his sons way of expressing himself and his interests at this time in his life. And I have to say that my nephew is one of the most happy, loving, caring and outgoing young people I know. Denise lost herself for awhile there defining herself as always being somebody's daughter, somebody's wife and somebody's mother. - Well, until you mentioned it, I really haven't thought about the room's color. I thought the graphic was an outer space/solar system/Star Trek type thing, which wouldn't surprise me in a boy's room. I did wonder where the "house police" were when Roxy's boys were painting the wall. My mom said they weren't allowed to paint the walls any color except an off-white that was given to them by base housing. - Yep that got me too! I also liked the gazebo scene when Denise told Jeremy that she WAS proud of him, even though he abused her. Denise is a stronger lady than I think she even realized, & know she is realizing it & I can't wait to see where she goes from here. Frank is still being an a**, maybe his talk with the soldier's father will cause him to reflect on his own actions where he too can forgive Jeremy. - You're right, TB, that almost all women go through some version of that emotion at some time in their lives. I know I did. The difference for me is that I realized that I was allowing myself to be defined by my relationships, and I was OK w/ that for a long time. Part of being shy, I think. But Denise woke up to the fact father rudely, and that's why she'e so pissed now, and so forceful in her transformation. CB has taken a well written character and made her so real.   - Our relationships with family & friends are part of what defines us as individuals. Roxy is a great example, her relationship with her mom when she was a child is what made her the person she is now. But, as she pointed out, we all have two families, the one we're born into & the one we choose. What a brilliant performance by Catherine again this week as well. Catherine's performances each week are so riveting and I'll say it again, she just encompases the characters that she plays and your right there with her on the journey. What a testiment to Catherine's talent and her craft. Loved how Denise expressed exactly what she wanted and needed from Frank (Frank is still not on my good list this week).Taking the initiative bringing Jeremy's stuff back in the house in front of Frank,stating to Claudia that she needed to get his room back exactly as it was before so he'll never know what his father did and how hurtful it was. And then the bar scene just said it all, Denise is definitely on her way. Also, how many of you just knew that Denise was going to be there when Jeremy left. I sure did and how heartbreaking. I'm so ready for next week and who do you think will succumb, Roland or Pamela? Take Care! :o)

- Loved the bar scene & how it explained Denise's life, while I like to believe she enjoyed that part of her life, she is now ready to move forward. Her son has left the nest, hubby will leave for duty again soon, so she will be alone wants to fill that void. - I loved the scene at Roxy's party...where Denise stated what we all know....that she's tired of being a doormat, & that its time for Denise to find Denise. When the bus pulled away at the end, I just knew Denise was going to be there...even if Jeremy didn't see his Mom, she was there. I loved it when Denise went to see Jeremy at the gazebo, & he broke down telling her that he wanted to make her proud of him again & she didn't miss a beat in telling him that she WAS proud of him. Despite his abusiveness towards her, Denise has forgiven him. It shows a great sense of strength from Denise, strength she probably didn't know she had.   - I think Frank's talk with the soldier's father started Frank to the realization that even though he may not like things Jeremy has done, he is still his son. I don't think Frank knows how to express his love for Jeremy to Jeremy b/c the card was typewritten all the way down to the signature. Even if he had typed the main message cuz his handwriting his bad, he could have handwritten the signature. - Terrific episode again this week and I totally agree KH. CB just continues to impress and she is definitely taking charge of her life. As far as Claudia goes, Jennifer I disagree. Denise isn't holding a grudge, I think she's hurt more than anything else and Claudia knows she hurt Denise otherwise she would have said it in her pissed speech at the bar. And don't get me started on Michael, he's about second on my list under Frank. He too has that Alpha male thing going on as well, just in a different way. Michael being willing to help Jeremy is a big joke imho because he said the words but didn't put action to them and then sent him away when Jeremy went by the house to see Amanda.   - RE: Claudia Joy forcing Amanda to tell. Amanda is basically a grown woman, if she's stubborn there's very little that Claudia Joy can do if she doesn't want to tell. Should she take away all of her things? Resort to torture? Kick her out of the house? I mean really, what can anyone do if another stubborn person has a piece of information that they don't want to reveal? Amanda's parents didn't even know about her stance on the war or her affiliation with Jeremy until recently. Amanda keeps to herself, and there's very little anyone can do to get things out of her if she doesn't want to reveal them. After Amanda saw how much Denise was hurting, she took her to see Jeremy.
