The International Homecoming Festival is held the end of July through the first week of August in Calais, ME and St. Stephen, New Brunswick, and has many pageants.

LaPetite, Pre-Teen & Teen Pageants
Contact: Barbara Lara 454-2824. Barbara has been a dance teacher for decades. Many of her students have won national pageant and talent titles.

Little Miss International (ages 7-9) and Miss (ages 17-24)
Contact: Jill Thorton at 454-3730. Her daughter was Miss International 1991 and was in top 7 at Miss Maine America.
The Miss Pageant has cash prizes. I think there is a $20 entry fee for Little Miss.

For more information go to www.visitcalais.com, click on News and Events for August. Also there is a new website, for just the Little Miss and Miss pageant: http://www.freewebs.com/missinternational/

Usually it's between 6-12. What stops alot of local girls from entering is talent, which is 40% of the score.
We had 10 last year. Many of these girls have never entered a pageant before.
All judging criteria is on the website.
[> [> [> [> [> Subject: That's a good number. It seems most pageants now average between 8 and 12.

Author:
Is it usually the same number of Americans and Canadians (or close to it)?

In 1996 the Miss America pageant held a phone-in poll asking the public to weigh in on whether or not the Swimsuit competition should be continued. A staggering 87 percent voted to retain the swimsuit portion. The Swimsuit competition counts for 15 percent of the contestant's overall score. --From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

I don't think they take many more because they find the sponsors.
