She seems a nice girl, but she is very shy... all I heard from her so far is the word "mniha" which means "I'm fine" in response to me asking how is she doing.

I'm not sure how to treat her or what our relation would be like as this all comes so sudden that I never thought how I would fare as a mother in law.

Relations here are very different from how things are at your part of the world. Parents here have a say in their kids' lives till the very last day of their lives (unlike what it's like with Johnny:-). When a girl get married, she joins the family and be part of it rather than just marry the son and see his falks occasionally. Recently, this began to change, bonds began to weaken and kids are becoming more and more independent. But.. in my case, I am still not sure. I like the girl but I don't know how things will be between us.

The other day we had dinner out and we invited her to come with us. It happened that her chair was exactly on the opposit side to where my husband and I sat. I noticed that she was too shy to touch the food in her plate, and I didn't want to embarrase her so I took my mobile phone and sent her an SMS telling her to change places and sit on the same side as us if that would make her more comfortable which she did immediately, with a big smile. The next day, she sent me an SMS saying "I just want to say Hi"
