 Confused, you seem to be totally normal to me. Only very recently has being a spanko begun to be acceptable. The 50 Shades trilogy has helped. In a major US newspaper, the NY Times, a young writer came out as a spanko. Punch up "Jillian Keenan" in google and read her Styles section revelation. She clearly is conflicted big time. If you want to read about someone with even more issues but who came out way back in the late 20th century, punch in "Daphne Merkin" and "New Yorker". Poor Daphne still struggles with depression, drugs, and, no doubt, her spanko interests. She is productive and relatively successful as a writer.

You might want to be careful with the new student in your life since she, too, may not be totally at home with her needs. Best of luck.
