Date Posted: 15:48:03 06/23/09 Tue In reply to: 's message, "joyce can checks for donations be made out directly to st jude??" on 15:43:35 06/23/09 Tue Checks should be made payable to Compassionate Crowns as we are the benefit fundraisers, not St Jude. There are expenses that will have to come out of some of the funds collected, such as crowns, sashes and prizes. These titles have no entry fee and are double crowned, so the money has to come from somewhere. We will combine all monies collected (after expenses) and present one check to St Jude during the telethon. If people made their check out directly to St Jude, there would be no need to offer an award. they could simply send their check in directly to them. This is a benefit, although it is not for just one person. Proceeds to benefit St. Jude. You can also tell them that anyone that is a company wishing to make a donation, we will put their company information on a web page that will be up for 1 year. This will be a sponsors page. It will also have photos from the pageant itself along with a group photo of everyone that returns to be taped for the telethon. We get over 100 hits on our site daily and will have many more than that in the days following the pageant. This is a great advertising tool. And while we dont do a program book, this advertising will be up all year, not just in a book for the weekend contestants will place in a drawer after the pageant. So, be sure to collect their company information to be added to the site, including their web site, phone number, physical address and owner if applicable. This is not to say that if they make their check out to St. Jude that we won't accept it. However, we cannot combine it with our total, as it would be deceptive to say it is coming from Compassionate Crowns, when in fact it is coming from another company or individual. Hope this helps.
