I have to order them in advance due to the fact that they are being custom made for Compassionate Crowns. If it gets down to the deadline and I have to place an order, I will have to limit the number and only award them to the higher titles. I dont want anyone to have to go home without one of these beautiful crowns. So if you could at least register (you do not have to pay your deposit until the deadline) it would give me a better idea of how many to expect. I dont want to over-order and have a bunch left. It was great meeting our new pageant families and reconnecting with some of our current families and friends. I hope you all will consider joining us for our State Pageant this July in Central, IL. I'm not saying you should buy food for 60 people, just that its not a big deal if more than one person brings the same dish or treat. There will be plenty of people there to eat it. Date Posted: 11:42:20 12/27/08 Sat If you are planning to attend a couple of things you should be aware of: I am planning to give the kids personalized embroidered gifts. If you do not send your deposit in before the early bird deadline, you child will not receive one of these gifts. Secondly - This pageant is planned the weekend of Valentines day. A very busy time for hotels. We have a room block set up, but they will not hold rooms indefinately. If you want to stay at the hotel, it is my advice to book now. Some of you may remember the shooting at the college last year. They will be holding a memorial service in Dekalb that same weekend and ALL the hotels are booking quickly. Get your room today! Room block is $99 and under Compassionate Crowns. Third - All crowns have been ordered & sashes will be custom embroidered sashes similar to the ones at the Winter Wonderland Pageant. Children love to get things in the mail and this is a great way to get to know a friend in our pageant family. Please be sure you can commit to participating before you submit your child's entry. If you would like to participate in the Secret Pal exchange please email your child's name, date of birth and mailing address to: director@compassionatecrowns.com Each entry will be paired up with their Secret Pal. Secret Pals will be matched up by blind draw. You cannot request a specific friend. You are not required to attend any Compassionate Crowns pageant to be eligible to enter. This activity is open to everyone, even siblings! DO NOT ENTER if you have no intention of purchasing and mailing a gift for your Secret Pals BIRTHDAY as well as CHRISTMAS! These are the ONLY TWO events you are expected to recognize for your Secret Pal. You are welcome to send your Secret Pal as many letters, gifts, cards, and greetings throughout the year as you like. You can send them monthly, weekly, or only twice a year. It's entirely up to you. All items must be sent via snail mail. Please do not send email and give away who you are. Please be sure you sign all correspondence with "your Secret Pal" Anyone signing up and not participating fully will be exempt from entering any of our future Secret Pal/Santa events. Date Posted: 19:55:24 10/23/08 Thu Jayla Pendleton & her family need our help! Jayla is only 7 years old and particpates in pageants. Jayla has been diagnosed with LVH (Left Ventricle Hypertrophy), irregular heartbeat and a hole on the exterior wall of her heart. It will require not only corrective surgery, but the doctors will actually have to stop her heart and restart it by shocking it. Surgery was scheduled for tomorrow, but has been postponed for the family to meet with a new cardiologist at the Childrens Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Tomorrow she will have a pre-op exam, blood work, and a physical before scheduling surgery for early next week. This surgery has a great success rate and Jayla is expected to have 2 months of therapy, but make a full recovery. I will be holding a JACKPOT PHOTO CONTEST to raise money to help this family with their travel expenses of going back and forth to St. Louis over these next weeks. We will award jackpots for both natural and glitz $5 per photo or 5 photos for $15. 1/2 of the total entry fees will be donated to the family in the form of gas cards and/or prepaid Visa card the other 1/2 will be awarded to the winners. The more entries we have, the more we can give away. We will begin accepting entries on Saturday Oct 25 thru Sunday Nov 2. Winners will be announced Wednesday Nov 5. Date Posted: 11:31:59 10/23/08 Thu I'm not sure we will have enough entries for this photo contest. I only have 4 pictures as of today. We will wait and see what tomorrow brings, and hopefully we will get a few more. I have been thinking about the next contest, which I'm pretty sure will be Halloween Costume. I think with the holidays coming, we will be making a change. How about we award gift cards for places other than where you can eat? American Girl, Toys 'r Us, Wal-Mart, Aeropostle, Hollister...places you might not normally shop, but your child wants for Christmas? Just thinking out loud. Of course it may take longer to get the gift card since I might have to order them online if we dont have one in our area. Heres your chance to put your two cents in, yeah or nay? Since it is a prelim with only one stage event, I am charging only $30. If you would like to be added to my schedule, please email me at tricia.hambly@yahoo.com or trischl@netzero.net soon. I will also be at Hearts and Crowns in Lexington, KY Oct. 24-26. I have only 2 openings left! I will also be at the Compassionate Crowns Mundelein Regional on Nov. 16.
