When I first got Precious, I thought about doing some Pro Sport with her. One of the thing sthat they worried about was the breeds lack of drive. Not that they don't have any, but they have a considerable ammount less.
THey tested Precious thoroughly, and one of the things i knoticed was their use of many backties and training collars. They're assessment with an adult was that she's not biting out of drive, She bites out of defense and fear. Leading to the conclusion that it could ruin her and be potentially dangerous.

However, not saying it can't be done, But personally I would start with a puppy and imprint from early on. Rayna has some great techniques and has competed with her six year old border collie. So it can be done. Just makes a huge diffrence on the breed type.

I will be getting a new dog. Hopefully soon... One fo the things i will definately be doing is some competitive ob and schuz. Rayna will be the main trainer (hopefully). Or I'll be using Gerald Swint out of Louisianna.

I think it all has to do with starting the pup off early, finding the RIGHT trainer and working of drive, not defense. Just MHOP
