It sounds like Tyler really is quite girlish and enjoys the transformative experience and sensation of being dressed and made up. It's possible his interest in sports is only because he feels a social compulsion for it, since this is what most boys do and he might just want to fit in, even if this isn't his true self.

Sounds like you're doing everything right to me. As someone who was in Tyler's shoes once, without the benefit of any type of support, I would say just continue what you are doing. It seems like, once he was in an entirely female environment (away from other boys who would criticize or bully him), and got some encouragement, he really blossomed. So perhaps that is a sign he is giving you.

There was no such thing as a womanless beauty pageant when I was ten (actually, cross-dressing was still technically illegal until about 1970), but I always admired glamorous women who enjoyed being looked at - Playboy bunnies, Las Vegas showgirls, cocktail waitresses, etc. - and would have done just about anything to spend a day as one. Part of growing up is knowing when to say "yes", shrug off silly social conventions, experience new sensations, and find your own place in the world. Kudos for giving Tyler a nudge in the right direction.
