Okay. I'm sick of the "Wouldn't it be cool?" stuff.
It would be really cool is gold coin rained from the sky (safely, of course) and we all had affordable health insurance, but "How cool?!" doesn't equal correctness or possibility.

It wouldn't matter if it were only days later. I'm saying that the team that debuted hockey here is dead. This new team has won nothing, has earned no pennants, has no junior's team to boast about - it's brand new and naked. It shouldn't get to point to the rafters and say, "Well, look what happened here when it was a different team in a different league." with any amount of pride. It doesn't give them something to strive for. It just shows that the fans watching only valued this game for its little cloth flags. Obviously, in that they won't give them up even when the team that earned them is THROUGH. Where's the line? When the Coast Hockey LLC team wins its own awards, where do they go? Above the old ones? Beside them? A continuation of that string of awards, regardless how unrelated they are? Or will it be okay to take them down once we have new pride to strap to the ceiling?

This dead team's awards aren't an inspiration or some draw for old fans. They're history.

And that brings up a new question. Is this new team - which has NO retired numbers - going to deny a player those numbers if he wants it? Oh, I can almost hear the boos now.
I mean, because you know that the team Woods and Rochon played for isn't a team anymore, right? Or is there some other excuse like "Wouldn't it be cool?"
