Yeah. I know that it's not the only reason to like the past team, may it rest in peace.
I know there will be comparisons. My point is that there shouldn't be. Except where they're the same - and it looks like that's only going to be the coach.
I don't think the new team should A: be allowed to keep the pennants up and B: should feel entitled to keep the pennants up.
They do not belong to an existing organization. I don't care what building they were won in. This team doesn't have a history, yet. And it's a coliseum. There aren't concert banners still hanging or Disney on Ice ads for memory's sake. No matter how many people were touched by them.
How can you NOT think the pennants of the dead team should come down if you don't think the number retirement should be upheld? Is it not a piece of rich history or some impressive past we should cling to free of reason?
Are those two jersey numbers not memories, too?
I don't even think you people think that the pennants should hang, you just want them there. There's no logical reason they should be there after we left the ECHL.
Just a bunch of sensationalist wants. "I like seeing them." Isn't good enough.
It's just frustrating for me to see the real reason behind everyone's support of leaving them there. No one around here is willing to be objective. It's all about keeping all the good stuff from the past and ignoring the bad stuff. Pretending that you're all still living in the glory days.
Like the team's not good enough unless the dead team it's replacing is still represented in the rafters. Because that was a super happy moment in the history of something that's gone, regardless of how irrelevant it is to the team that's there right now. Today. Not ten years ago.
