Subject: Have read and contributed to the other boards on DJE's new project, but wanted to put my opinion somewhere where at least it will be respected.

For those of you that didn't care for Love Sick, I don't think you are going to enjoy this role. The American version of this show will not be very different to the NZ one as that was one of the reasons it took so long to get there (we are in the last season here). Negotiations were around the fact that the writers of this show did not want it to be treated the way so many other overseas shows had been, where just the premise was used and it was nothing like the original, so they held out until they knew that wouldn't happen. Yes, Wolf is a great character, but he is NOT a moral criminal, he is manipulative and wants his own way. Be prepared for all those people who are excited about this to not like it very much at all. Me, I will probably never get to see it. We already have Outrageous Fortune, so I doubt the company will by another version. I am not bagging the show or the actors, I think it will be great because I already love it in it's original form. It you want an idea of the show http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WOS1JaNzx88&feature=PlayList&p=6A01737992503BBB&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=5 this is a composite of Wolf and Cheryl. Enjoy

[> Thanks for your post, Katiegirl. I for one am looking forward to the series. Although it's not always easy, I try not to pre-judge before I even set an eyeball on the TV. I admit, certain genres don't interest me, but I find that if I watch with an open mind and without a pre-conceived notion of how it's supposed to be, I don't get disappointed. I don't know what niche David belongs in; he's an actor and he's supposed to play different roles - we know he does the dashing hero well - but as long as he gives his all in his performance and he doesn't just phone it in, I'm a happy camper. :-)) -- Barbie, 18:26:22 03/31/10 Wed [1]

[> [> I'm in agreement with you Barbie, after watching the clip of Outrageous Fortune, I'm sure the role of "Wolf" will give David the opportunity to showcase his talents very well.....lots of aspects to the role. Thank you so much Kategirl for posting and for bringing your thoughts to this forum. -- MargoUK, 06:12:58 04/01/10 Thu [1]

[> Also, I watched the video you linked and not having seen the show before, it wasn't bad. I have seen the sides for the Scoundrels pilot and I got the impression that Wolf's character loves his family very much and wants to protect them from the bad side of the business. He may be manipulative and conniving but I think he keeps that part out of the family. Again, that's the impression I get. Also, I am personally looking forward to seeing David with some tattoos! Can't wait! And don't worry about not being able to see the show. I'd be more than happy to help. Just email me when the time comes and we'll work something out if you want. -- Barbie, 18:40:02 03/31/10 Wed [1]

[> I'm also looking forward to this show. Watched the YouTube music video and could very easily visualize DJE as Wolf. Very sexy and obviously in love with his wife. As for the premise....I LOVE The Godfather Saga, and I think the fact that Marlon Brando's character really loved his wife and family, as did Michael Corleone, is why I watch it everytime it's on. Sure the premise of alife of crime is distasteful, but great acting and love of family makes it a little easier to watch. -- abrah, 21:48:19 03/31/10 Wed [1]

[> Thanks for posting here, Katiegirl. I, for one, look forward to the series. Sounds like a role that David can really 'inhabit.' I'm grateful that something has 'broken' for him on a major prime-time front. I'm ready~bring it on! The chance to do something different and refreshing is long overdue. The NZ series seems highly-touted and has been very successful; I only hope that the US version gets adequate promotion, high enough ratings in the summer (where ratings are typically abysmal for most every show just because of the time of year) and strong enough fan response that ABC will choose to pick it up for future episodes. We can only hope. Looking forward to seeing David do something "different"...he's an actor, that's what he does!! -- judy52sa, 19:36:04 04/01/10 Thu [1]

[> I completely understand your points, Katiegirl. As an American who's lived abroad 25 years now, I have learned to really love the way these types of shows are produced in other countries. I used to love 'The Flying Doctors' (this is Australian, I think). From the OF YouTubes, I can see that the show is more realistic and nitty-gritty than what might be produced in the States.. I would think that they will try to keep these aspects as authentic as possible, even if it's Americanized and that DJE's character will be close to Wolf -- not a nice guy, but certainly charismatic, sexy, and the bad boy a girl can't shake. BTW, who plays 'Judd' in the American version. In the kiwi version, he is also quite the hunk. HE is a Maori, tall, dark, and handsiome 'drink of water'!!! The guy who plays Wolf is also hunky!! It seems, though, that Wolf really does love Cheryl and is genuinely interested to keep his family safe, thus, he has some redeeming qualities. inside -- mj, 10:27:54 04/02/10 Fri [1]

Plus, I take it, he leaves the show for awhile and then comes back? Anyhow, I doubt if I'll get to see it unless I'm stateside in June which I MIGHT be. I think DJE could do this role and am looking forward to hearing all about it and seeing it, if possible. I really hope it does well in the States and is a huge sort of 'comeback' for DJE.

[> [> mj - remember I have the advantage of being in the last season ever, so I know what happens. Just let me say that Wolf is very well named. Haven't heard who is doing Judd in the States, but could see Dwayne Johnson, or maybe Scott Lawerence playing that character quite well. Cliff Curtis would be good, but he has Trauma. -- Katiegirl, 17:24:20 04/02/10 Fri [1]

[> THank you all for speaking about this. It's what I've been talking about since the news broke, the belief that lots of DJE's so-called fans whill be quick to rant about the character because it's NOT the character they want him to portray. I still don't get these fans insistence that DJE ONLY play roles that are simply Harm in a new name and different clothes. -- nancyeddy, 10:35:39 04/02/10 Fri [1]

[> When I first read about David taking on the role of Wolf in 'Scoundrels' I did have a few misgivings as we all like to see David play the hero. I'm now warming to the idea of him and his criminal family and hoping that the series will eventually make its way to the UK.. I'm sure David will bring to the role a lot of the more softer side of Wolf, and show the love there is for his wife and family. David is such a versatile actor and can will be able to portray the different facets of his character extremely well, -- Audrey UK, 13:14:59 04/03/10 Sat [1]
