Subject: I have yet to see a good explanation for why the TCRG exam is structured the way it is. What is the benefit of rote memorization of all 30 ceili dances? .

Why should anyone be forced to learn 30 ceili dances from memory when only a third or so are competed in abridged form? The dances are documents, so why is knowing them by heart of any benefit to anyone except as a gatekeeping measure to keep aspiring teachers out? And how does such memorization make someone a good teacher? No one has been able to convince me yet that the TCRG exam is not 50 years out of date
