CLRG, according to reports, has no money. Doing Worlds in Chicago will be a cash cow for them. Teams fees alone should cover the entire cost of the event. There were more teams than ever at the Mid-America O, Trinity alone had more than 400 dancers doing teams according to its social media posts.

There are going to be a ridiculous number of teams at Worlds. Assume every 8-hand, every mixed 4 hand, every choreography that danced at MidAmerica will dance at Worlds. That is a lot of money in entry fees. And they all show up because it is the chance to dance at WORLDS! OMG!

We can complain about it, or we can all respect that CLRG is finally actually making decisions based on the practical reality of the situation. They cannot run event at a loss and doing Worlds in Schaumburg guarantees they will cover expenses and probably come out ahead.

If you are in Ireland or the U.K. and think it sucks, fine. It does for you. I get that. But complaining is not going to change it. No one is forcing you to go to Schaumburg. Irish dance is an extracurricular activity. Skipping Worlds is not going to permanently damage your child.

If you go, choose it and own your choice.

Personally, I respect CLRG for choosing a location that actually stands to be profitable.
