A slight smirk played across the woman’s delicate lips as the colt’s velvety muzzle ticked her palm. Then he was gone, scampering across the field and showing off his playful nature. And why not? It was a gorgeous day out, and he had very few worries in the world. He ought to enjoy every blessed second of it. She watched in quiet amusement as he played, remaining absolutely still when he came back to her. She watched in silence, then shifted, moving slowly to slip between the fence railings. She straightened calmly, and offered her hand to the colt again, wondering if maybe this time she’d be able to grab hold of his halter. Without a doubt, she’d take her time, and let him grow accustomed to her presence, but he didn’t appear to be having much trouble with that as it was now.
