The shirt went first, tattered and torn, the black fabric was tossed to the floorboard before her jeans followed suit, a wince given as her head dipped lower than it should have and she had to pause to keep from puking all over again. Standing there she’d been about ready to shrug the jacket on when she realized the police would probably want the rest of the items too. Her bra was useless anyways so it was finally removed, followed by her stretched underwear. Standing there in her boots Des shivered, moving into the jacket as quickly as she could but each movement caused other minor aches and brusies to whine in complaint. Finished the small parking lot was filed with lights as the sheriff arrived followed soon after by the ambulance. Elden was greeting the man she knew must be the sheriff, brown eyes void of much emotion, though they widened as Elden began to explain why the guys on the ground were here and what they’d been about to do. ”Hey man, Derek’s bleeding. I think he needs a doctor.” Jimmy’s voice cutting into Elden’s demand that the EMT’s see to her first, causing Des to bulk as Elden guided her to the square vehicle, setting her on the bumper as a simple yet nice looking woman came forward at Elden’s request. She heard him tell the EMT what he thought was wrong then squatted down to tell her he’d be right back. Inside she screamed no terrified he was leaving her, but her mouth wouldn’t function to allow the word out. She didn’t want to be left alone with this woman; she didn’t want to be left alone at all! She didn’t want them to touch or prod her, she just wanted to go find a shower and go to bed, forget this whole thing had ever happened. Fresh tears falling as she heard the woman ask in a soft voice if anything else hurt, Des refusing to acknowledge the woman till she’d repeated the question a second time, flicking a hand in front of her face to draw her attention away from the where Elden had walked off with the Sheriff. ”My head hurts and my eye, I ache everywhere but its mainly my head.” Words finally mumbled to the woman as she heard Elden’s feet shuffle back to the ambulance, she was looking at his shoes when the EMT mentioned she needed to take her boots off. ”But…” the plea evident, she really liked those boots, though she reluctantly gave them up along with the socks. She was listening to the woman explain that she did have a concussion but nothing major, though the next forty-eight hours would be critical to keep an eye on her. The woman applied some antiseptic to the scraps and cuts along her arms and legs from the fight, she’d gotten a nice knick from Mark’s knife when she’d wiggled, but it wasn’t anything more than a scrap. The knife remembering it Des shifted, ignoring the woman who told her to stay still as she tried to stand up. ”El was stabbed!” her voice shaking, almost wishing she’d dreamed that fact, but knowing it was true having seen the blood earlier…it was an image she’d never get out of her head. It took the woman coaxing her back to sitting so they could get the last few samples of DNA off her, but Desiree finally did with their promise they’d look over him in just a moment. Though by this time Derek was coming to and he was once again demanding they know who he was and that he get to call his father. There wasn’t much more she could take and the look she gave to Elden as the EMT motioned him forward for a look spoke volumes of her desire to melt away into nothing, for this whole thing to vanish away. |
