Thanks Joel.

Congrats.

I've read the account of that incident and how you bamboozled him into paddling you that evening with a paddle that one of your other buddies made in shop class if memory serves. The way you went about that would be a model for me except that my dad passed away in 2007 so it is too late for us.

Getting yelled at is worse. Your brain is like a CD player without a "Stop" button and when a parent yells at a kid it just replays over and over and over just like the Energizer bunny. Better to get a whippin' and it is over and done with.

Thanks. Just remember that I am old enough to be your dad so please forgive me if the "responsible adult" in me kicks in once in awhile.

That's fine.

Looks like your friend Luke had a field day with the time my parents found that pack of cigarettes in my dresser drawer. If I remember from the archives, some of your friend's parents were openly critical of your parents for not warming your butt sooner and your father at one point indicated that he had been looking for an excuse to spank you, Do you think your dad would've caved earlier if your parents had found a pack of cigarettes in your dresser drawer when you were in the second grade?

OK. Responsible adult in me kicking in. You are a student-athlete. There is a reason that hyphenated word is in the order that it is in. You are supposed to be a student first and an athlete second. :D

Regarding being a HR hitter, maybe I'll be watching you on television in a few years (I am a Cardinals fan).

I enjoy the great outdoors.

Me too; especially the Civil War era.

You know

Never made it. I was just a lowly scout.
